Akron/Family

Anyone into Akron/Family here???

They’re definately one of the illest live bands around at the momment and make awesome albums…which are very melodic for the most part. They’re also responsible for the music of Micheal Gira’s Angels Of Light.

My brother’s a big fan. I saw 'em with Gira and it wasn’t my thing. I’m not much on the freak folk scene outside of the Animal Collective who are far too strange to be confined by that category.

So was it an Angels Of Light gig you saw or were there two sets???

Jesus, let me eat my words on Akron/Family just got back from seeing them tonight and it was one of the best and most blissful shows of my life! I need to get me a whole bunch of their stuff now!

Start off with their split album with Angels Of Light and Love Is Simple.

Then get their new-ish one “Set’em Wild, Set’em Free”…then start from the begining on up.

Akron/Family are an incredible band and have definately been one of my faves over the last few years.

Stoked to say I’m teaching a yoga class with Miles from Akron doing live music next Saturday night!

On the unlikely chance any of the SoCal contingent here is interested in attending, here’s the info:
