I’m inclined to agree with Stairwell. And fuck all this Whoopi Goldberg bullshit rhetoric of ‘consent’ and ‘permission’. There was a case here a few years ago where a judge was busted with a shit load of child pornography but got away with it cos the search of his house didn’t follow due protocol. But the fact remains he downloaded all this stuff (supposedly it was very extreme child pornography) and he got away with it over a technicality.

Cos I just read an article in The Times online about a council worker in Cornwall busted with 30,000 hardcore pics and movie files of kiddy porn who was made to do community work one day a week for 6 months.
I thought they were tough on that kind of crime there. Chris Langham (actor) was jailed for 3 months for possessing only 15 hardcore pics and movie files.
Some old 60’s musician got busted for child porn a few years back (I wanna say pete townsend but I can’t be sure if that’s the guy) and he claimed it was for reasearch on a book he was writing I think he got off! (LOL no pun intended. that was funny though!)
The thing I wonder is, is how do these assholes down load these pics? It’s not like web sites can advertise that they have this shit. The mind boggles at why someone would wanna do that shit anyway it’s not like children are “hot” or anything!

When Townshend was accused he said he had contacted police before he downloaded the child porn and informed them it was for research and that he was trying to ascertain whether he was abused as a child. Turns out he did contact the police beforehand and he got away with it then. A guy from Massive Attack was up for child porn too, he also got away lightly from what I gather. Langham, a guy with a lot less money and influence than the aforementioned, got a prison sentence. That is just insane that someone else who had 30,000 child porn images only gets community service. (Community service should be the last type of “punishment” he receives anyway, with the greater likelihood he being a danger to kids, though I presume the community service is monitored)
Another case I just remembered was of a man in the U.S. who within the space of a few weeks (it may have even been a smaller time period) downloaded over $1,000,000 worth of child porn! He was nabbed and given over 100 years in prison. I can’t remember his name but it struck me as one of the most insane things I’ve ever read about.
So it was Townsend. Not bad for my shitty memory!

there was a photography exhibit in LA recently called “High Glitz” by susan anderson. don’t have a link, but she’s an LA person. really made the grotesque nature of the pageants even more evident.
shirley temple always looked the same over the years btw. and she was a child star, so who knows what was goin’ on over there.
It was a brilliant but short comedy series taking the piss out of celebrities and such by getting them to believe ridiculous things such as vapours coming out of your keypad that make you more suggestible to a paedophile. They had a special episode on paedophilia that was hilarious but a very intelligent insight into how silly people are when it comes to paedophilia. One such fictional skit in the episode featured parents who got their very young daughter breast implants so she could compete better at child beauty pageants. It caused a lot of offence but it duly showed just how terrible these child beauty pageants are and that the parents of these children are usually fucked in the head and shouldn’t have kids in the first place.

No. His credit card details were found on a child porn database. He did not contact police. They knew nothing about it. You cannot contact police and tell them you are about to download kiddy porn. Which is why they searched his house. Weasled his way out of it. I’d say his lawyer came of it several thousand pounds richer too.

Langham never paid for the porn. Which by law almost guarantees a much MUCH lighter penalty. Why he went to jail nobody knows. People with ‘collections’ 20 times more massive get off. Even the judge who sentenced him admitted later that he probably shouldn’t have locked him up. Langham was an idiot for doing it and probably should have received the caution that the other two got - from what I’ve read he doesn’t sound like a kiddie fiddler. More a case of ‘what the hell was I thinking?’.

In Australia it is almost unheard of to go to jail for that type of crime. A German tourist caught importing a substantial amount of illegal porn into Australia on his laptop, was punished by being put on a plane (at taxpayers expense) and sent back to Germany.
