Because NO ONE I associate with knows who the fuck Ministry is, I have no one to speak of it with.
So I turn to you, assorted, benevolent prongers.
Opinions are great.
So give me yours.
The query in question (horrible choice of words, yes…): What are the five best Ministry tracks?
My thoughts…
“The Angel”: For its sheer trippiness and ambiguously dark lyrics.
“Flashback”: It ALWAYS makes me feel like inflicting grevious amounts of harm to someone.
“Dream Song”: Because Al and Co. need to do MORE things like this.
“10/10”: Probably the WIERDEST fucking cut Ministry’s ever done. I love it.
“Stolen”: 'Cause fuck 'em, that’s why.
-
Lava- it sounds like boris but 10 times meaner. fuckin love this song even though its not that original
-
Eureka Pile- depressed drugy song.
-
Reload- Best ministry single. In my opinion.
-
NWO- I think this song is really unique even though its metal. Cant help but love the dums.
-
Canibal song- still creepy as hell.
beyond the top Five I would definately put in Impossible, Pasiley, Shove, Leper, and the fall.
Definately a drunk post. Still my fav songs though.
In no particular order:
Isle Of Men
Useless
The Missing
So What
Just Like You
Kinda hard narrowing down five. But I like a lot of off twitch and lorah. Filth Pig is a great album also.
Five best Ministry. Simple…
Everyday (Is Halloween)
Stigmata 12"
All Day Remix
So What
Thieves
Biggest songs…
Drunken post…
1002
In alphabetical order;
Breathe
Deity
Golden Dawn
Jesus Built my Hotrod (extended Dennis Hopper sample version)
Lava
I LOVE that question! Here are my favorite Ministry songs:
1.) We Believe
2.) The Angel (short version)
3.) Cannibal Song
4.) Isle of Man
5.) Everyday is Halloween
Splintered
Simple question but one that has not been asked in a while on this board. Bisquit is there a way to calculate percentages?
Stigmata - Allthough we are all probably burned out on this one, this is the track that grabbed me by the nads and never let go.
Flashback - So much rage and so twisted and acidic. Love it.
Hero - Never did like this song that much until I heard it as an opener live during the Sphinctour. Now its like a steamroller… Heavy and pounding and relentless.
Lava - Nasty, thick, oily sludge. Makes me groove every time.
Dead Guy - Keep stickin’ it in, keep stickin’ it in… 'Nough said
Cheers
Hero - Never did like this song that much until I heard it as an opener live during the Sphinctour. Now its like a steamroller… Heavy and pounding and relentless.
i thought “psalm 69” was the opener for all the sphinctour shows, according to bootlegs, no?
yeah don’t think Ministry ever played Hero first, always in the middle.
Hm… That’s tough. My favorites probably change on a regular basis.
Based on the criteria “tracks I’m likely to play without going through the entire album” I’d say:
Breathe, The Fall, Just One Fix, Scarecrow, Senor Peligro.
Hero - Never did like this song that much until I heard it as an opener live during the Sphinctour. Now its like a steamroller… Heavy and pounding and relentless.

I was at the Houston Tx show… International Ballroom 5-1-1996. Hero was the opener. And wow… what an opener.
In No particular order, as well. although one could Gather from earlier posts that Filth Pig is by far My favorite Ministry track
Burning inside, Filth Pig, So What, The Fall, 10/10
Late,
grmpysmrf
#1 I’m Falling (the earlier Cure-esque demo/alternate version)
#2 The Angel (the Twitched alternate shorter version with the extra percussion)
#3 Over the Shoulder (longer 12" version)
#4 Lava
#5 A toss-up between Dream Song, Hizbollah, So What, Filth Pig, or Should Have Known Better.
A top 5 list is actually really hard. Top 10, 15 or 20 would be easier because (at least during the WS-Twitch-Lorah-The Mind era) there is SO much variety from album to album.
I can definitely say that there wouldn’t be any songs from anything after Filth Pig on my top-anything Ministry list.
Perhaps another interesting question could be the everyone’s top 5 songs from the four non-Barker albums?
Perhaps another interesting question could be the everyone’s top 5 songs from the four non-Barker albums?
Probably where With Sympathy comes into play. And i’m going to just count these separately from my past five:
Work For Love
All Day (remix)
Worm
I Wanted To Tell Her
Where You At Now/Crash And Burn/Twitch
And why does it seem as though, i’m likely the only here who has never heard “everyday is halloween”? I’m honestly just getting around to finally hearing DSOTS.
Hmm…
Just 1 Fix
Corrosion
Halloween
Same Old Madness
Smothered Hope
Changes on a weekly basis… J1F and Same old madness always seem to be in there though.
Worthless is for sure on the list. The only “new” song that drives me batshit-crazy like the older material. Throw in any of the TV material, then regress back to '82-'90 - That’s where my favorite Ministry songs live.
I have to give kudos to whomever mentioned Should’ve Known Better - you’re one in a million.
i can’t pick any tracks from 1981 - 2003 ministry. because there are so many to choose. also i can’t pick up any tracks from 2004-2007 ministry. because there’s nothing to pick up from.

Hizbollah
Lava
Golden Dawn
Corrosion
Breathe
honourable mentions - The Missing, Cannibal Song, Faith Collapsing, Scarecrow, ReLoad, Quick Fix
Golden Dawn
Vex and Siolence
Lava
You Know What You Are
The Fall
Those are the ones I tend to re-listen to most at least but there’s plenty of other one’s I dig too. I probably should’ve put Angel in that list somewhere…
Golden Dawn
Vex and Siolence
Lava
You Know What You Are
The Fall
even I could hardly make a list myself, this one is very very good
I would also think about listing Filth pig, Reload, Scarecrow, Faith collapsing, and Kaif
