What have I gone and done?
I would say you gave Atom an invitation but he shows up on his own anyway.

Did you honestly expect otherwise?
The forum is basically the Texas Chainsaw family minus everything cool about it.
I’m in for a bumpy ride…
Welcome aboard! Don’t listen to what they say I am the nicest (and best looking) person on the forum. Oh and that “turd” was a snickers bar…
Are you saying I’m a Nazi? Cos that’s what I’m hearing.

Don’t give the noob the wrong impression.
This forum is like sex with an angry step parent.

Exactly. You can either be a negative-Nancy about it or be positive that it’s at least sex.
Welcome to the…um…“jungle”, noobie.
Some cool bands on yer faves list.
You like many of the “heavier” types of bands?
Here is a video of the live performances that occurred during the super elite underground sex/meth party pictured above, and which you’ve all been drooling over, starring myself and other brilliant creative minds.
This will give you and your boring/ugly friends a privileged glimpse into the underground cutting edge world of voidhead & friends as we take NYC by storm!!

I still listen to bands like Swans, Crass, Killing Joke and Big Black - but not like I did twenty years ago.
I know Godflesh are popular here. I’ve seen all the debates that rage here about those guys. I like what I’ve heard but admit to not hearing that much. Streetcleaner is one album I need to grab a copy of ASAP. I heard it a long time ago but can’t really remember much of it. I have heard it described as “Throbbing Gristle meets Black Sabbath meets Crass” which can’t be all bad.
The only album of theirs I am really familiar with is Slavestate which I bought on cd several years ago at a market. It is ok I suppose, but doesn’t get much of a go on my cd player. Maybe I should listen to it again.
I haven’t heard Jesu yet apart from a few samples on amazon. I intend to do something about that soon.
Other heavy bands? A bit of early Sepultura, Celtic Frost, Wolf Eyes, Neurosis, Corrupted, Deicide, Earth, Fantomas and Cathedral.

Streetcleaner got remastered a couple years ago and it sounds killer. Their self-titled album is my personal favorite. The die hard fans on avalanchers.co.uk will tell you either Pure or Selfless is their best. I don’t really care for either. The Merciless EP is a good one. Songs Of Love And Hate and Us & Them are also worth checking out.

I’d recommend ‘In All Languages’ the best of double disc as a starting point because it showcases the various styles the band went through and you can find what most appeals to you.

The Pure/Selfless thing on avalanchers is really just a long running joke…in actuality, most people on there love Streetcleaner the most…and only a handful like Hymns(I’m one of them that likes it)…I don’t really have a favorite GF record…they all have merit…
I’m grabbing Streetcleaner tomorrow. No more messing around. Finally gonna do it. I’ll let you know how I went.

Streetcleaner is a fucking crusher of an album. Like Rats is one of the greatest songs ever recorded. I don’t really like any other Godflesh albums very much at all. They could have just done Streetcleaner and retired and i’d have thought more of them. Great songs here and there but overall i though Hymns and Pure weren’t that good for all the praise that gets lavished on them.

Well,I totally disagree but then they are one of my favorite bands of all time…and Hymns getting praise? I’ve only heard the opposite…I hear people constantly slag that record…the first record is a brutal record and if you like Streetcleaner it really doesn’t make since not to like that one…they have much in common…Pure is where things changed…Selfless is considered their most accessible album…it probably is but not at the expense of good taste…Songs of Love and Hate and the remix are very different sounding not just because of the great Brain on drums…Us and Them is a grower…their song ‘Love is a Dog from Hell’ from the Pathological comp is probably the most crushing track ever recorded…
and the Merciless and Cold World ep’s are gold…

After writing that i actually downloaded their discography to give them another shot [:)] Maybe i’ll change my mind. Anyone i know who likes them loved Hymns, not my cup of tea really, but i’ll give them another try.
