“I’m seriously busier and happier than I’ve ever been in my life because of the label [13th Planet Records] and the studio I own and the bands that I work with and the kids. I think I told you before, I always wanted to be a teacher or professor, and in a sense, it’s almost like School of Rock, because the kids I get on my label or the kids that I’m giving Revolting Cocks to or the kids that come and record at my studio also get an education of what not to do in a career and who not to listen to. So that’s kind of fulfilling in a sense — it kind of fills my little professor/groupie fantasy.
“On top of that, I get to be in the studio, which is where I want to be,” Jourgensen concludes. “Listen, being 50 years old and being on a tour bus and trying to figure out what truck stop to [use the restroom] in is not my idea of glamour!”
"So it’s going to be Revolting Cocks in perpetuity, kind of like the industrial Menudo, if you will!”
If retiring means less Al J. interviews, that’s probably a good thing at this point. I hate to think what he’s about to do to Pailhead (and surprised that Ian is allegedly on board).
also, although the last few Ministry albums were somewhat iffy in terms of production, mixing and mastering (Last Sucker being a little better in this regard than RGB and HOTM), I think Al would be a great source of advice and help in a studio environment.
Say what you will, the man can make a living on doing whatever music he wants. Props to him for that. Unfortunately releasing so much so fast under the same moniker makes it all kind of sound the same.
No, jizzwad’s right. Al should be giving away studio time and production work out of the kindness of his heart.
Don’t you know that’s how Flood and Bob Rock and Mutt Lange work? They can’t feed their families because they do their work for the betterment of the music world.
What Al actually said was “I really don’t see myself writing much of anything for a while, and if I do, it would be concentrated on finishing up chapters on things like Lard and Pailhead.” I don’t expect these records to ever come out.
All of these comments on the future of these bands is getting confusing. Here is what Al said in September 2007: http://www.mp3.com/news/stories/10198.html
“Yeah, I think there’ll probably be another Pailhead. I talked to Ian [MacKaye] a few months ago, and he seems amenable to it. And I think I can probably find time next year. We’re in the process right now as we speak. That’s what I’m going to be working on today–we’re about halfway through the new Revolting Cocks record, called Got Cock? Like the milk commercials, right, and that’s the final Cocks record. Although there is a cover [song]–the Cocks are doing a cover record, and Ministry is doing a cover record of all bad '70s covers in our own versions. That one’s already done. That should be out in April. The Ministry one is already done. And that one is called Cover Up. And then the Cocks’ one is called Cover It Up. So there’s those two, plus the last two releases–you know, The Last Sucker and Got Cock?–and then I’ll be able to, you know, after the Ministry tour, I’ll be able to spend a little bit of time with either Ian [MacKaye] or Jello [Biafra], or both, and try and finish up a Lard and a Pailhead.”
This was before Al had ever mentioned turning RevCo into “industrial Menduo.” Think Cover It Up has a future? Will Al be on it?
Also, will there be another Ministry remix album? It has been hinted at: http://www.ministry.tickets.musictoday.com/Ministry/calendar.aspx
“Buy 2 or more presale tickets and receive an MP3 remix of “No Glory” from Ministry’s final studio album, which will not be released until Summer 2008.”
Evidence against is the fact that it almost is Summer 2008 and we have no release date or title (and 13th Planet albums always leak well in advance), we know slightly more about the RevCo album coming at the end of summer, and the VIP sampler CD did not promote a TLS remix album.
And how about a final Ministry live album? Has Al ever mentioned that?

Several remixes were relased for TLS when the album itself came out. Maybe they just decided to do that instead of a full-on album. But we’ll see.
I’m expecting a CULatour album or DVD next year - Al mentioned something about it in Atlanta, and there are lots of anti-taping goons at the shows. I’m not sure that’s a live recording I actually want, but whatever.
The May 9, 2008 Weekend pullout section of the print Sun-Times contains a full-page color photo of the band on the cover with the aforemented interview inside.
Maybe the remix albums aren’t selling enough to press another. I have heard some of the Ministry TLS remix tracks and they are pretty meh. Not worth a second spin really.

would you be kind enough to scan it in and post it.
