I was originally just gonna PM this to Gunnar, but I think there’s a few other Twisted Sister fans on here as well.

That’s too bad. I’m a Twisted Sister fan, but admittedly I wouldn’t know their drummer from Adam…
Dammit. This really sucks. I mean, it’s always sad whenever someone from one of my beloved bands dies, but this one is even worse for me for several reasons.
Twisted Sister is pretty much my favorite band EVER.
TS has remained a solid “original” (as can be) fivesome for a very long time. Pero, JJ, Ojeda, Dee, and Mark Mendoza. This is the CLASSIC lineup that TS fans recognize and they were STILL TOURING FESTIVALS AND PLAYING GIGS TOGETHER.
I met AJ Pero and his wife, Michelle, in 2005 when my buddy and I sneaked in through the back door during sound check at a Vegas show. They were really genuinely nice and gracious people. So, I’m not going to lie or exaggerate and act like we were drinking buddies or even “friends” but there was a personal connection.
He was a great drummer. A sad loss musically, as well as everything else.
Anyway, I’m quite saddened by this. Rock in peace, Brother AJ, and love and prayers to your family and friends as well.
We met all the guys except Dee, who did sound check then made a bee-line for his dressing room. They were all super swell, but Aj was by far the friendliest and most hospitable. Jay cracked me up. He walks back and then takes off his wig. It was so unexpected that my buddy and I were kind of in shock.
Bummer…he’s a local here on long island…sad!
Hate to hear that.
I was a huge twisted sister fan when i was younger. i saw the stay hungry tour in Memphis when they opened for Iron Maiden. I was little guy, can’t believe my dad let me go.
TS and Maiden. Hell yes!
I’ll be seeing Twisted Sister May 30 at Hard Rock Vegas. Skid Row and Great White opening!
Club Daze vol. 1 the studio sessions rules.
^
That’s actually probably my favorite TS disc.
If you like that, though, you should definitely pick up the 25th Anniversary release of “Stay Hungry” that came out a few years ago. It’s got a 2nd disc with some amazing unreleased tracks and demos. “Death From Above” is pretty much my favorite TS song now.
I only really like their heavier songs like “Burn In Hell” and “You Can’t Stop Rock & Roll”
gonna check that out haven’t listen to any TS in years
I think they should of been big befor KIss was…

I agree with the sentiment, but it was chronologically impossible since Dee joined in '76 after KISS had already gotten big.
TS was technically already a band, but let’s not try to pretend that they had any relevance or any future (no recordings, either) whatsoever before Dee punched their ticket for the big leagues.
They were kind of a New York Dolls rip off before Dee came around and injected the scary Alice Cooper sentiment.
The dude on the right looks like one of the characters from “THE WIZ”, only much sadder.
pulled out a killer live show by them i was at back in the days.
Rochester , NY 10/14/84 great quality sound
it’s out there in the trade world and download sites.
Mike Portnoy is a very odd replacement for Pero for this final tour…didn’t see that one coming…
