In a 1987 interview, Al said he was retiring Ministry and was going to continue on as PTP, saying it was just going to be him, “his Fairlight & an amp.” This obviously references the electro & EBM stuff he was making during ‘Twitch’ and leading up to LORAH. So I’m guessing that, had he not taken up the guitar again, it’s possibly PTP wouldn’t have been a sideproject but rather would have been the name stuff like “You Know What You Are” and “I Prefer” came out as. To go along with this, Lead Into Gold was mentioned in the same interview, and I wonder now, when you hear the more EBM type tracks from that project like “A Giant on the Earth” and “Faster Than Light”, if those weren’t started initially as this PTP stuff. “Hatred” being made from the skeleton track of what was supposed to be a Ministry/PTP song called “Thrill Kill Kult” would seem to confirm this.
Either way, I love LORAH as it is, but man…I wish they had put out at least one solid, pure EBM album before going all i-rock. Esp with Revco’s “You Often Forget” that track fits right in with the 2nd half of LORAH.
