Covering “Halo of Flies” is keeping the corpse warm, Jello.
Haha…
So, I take it you’ve heard the new album? Any good?
Yeah man! How is it? This might be my first Melvins purchase…let us know if it’s worth it.
Or should I just get Lustmord/Melvins? Because I do enjoy Lustmord quite a bit.
Honestly, all I did was go to iTunes and download “Halo of Flies” because I’m a big Alice Cooper fan (The Melvins do a good job making the song heavier than it was originally, but I’m not a big fan of the vocals) and the Al remix (which I haven’t even listened to all the way through yet). I can say that I’m not real impressed with the recording quality.
What’s wrong with the recording quality? Maybe it’s just an mp3 issue. shrugs
The new Jelvins disc is pretty cool. Three-four new songs. The Alice Cooper cover, never heard the original ‘Halo Of Flies’ so can’t compare them.
Have to listen to this album more. ‘Those Dumb Punk Kids(Will Buy Anything)’ is essentially a rant about the state of punk music. ‘Voted Off The Island’ is fifty seconds, where Jello seems proud of being voted off the island. Normality, conformity, 9 to 5 and a slam aimed at the rest of DK it seems. “Voted off the island of the Kennedy’s. Damn proud of it too.”
The live remake of California Uber Alles is pretty fun. Biafra adds on that false German accent for most of the song, as if potraying the Gropenfuhrer. Stays true tot he original, while just altering the lyrics.
The Dalek remix and remix of ‘Caped Crusdaer’ are pretty kick ass. Need to compare Uncle Al’s to the original though. The only changes I really noticed so far were in the guitar sound, as Al messed with them. I’ll check the rest later.
Jello calls himself J Lo in the liner notes. Heh.
Biafra is a bigger has-been than Rollins.
I thought the Melvins hated him anyway. There’s an interview they did in Europe a few years ago where they bag the shit out of him.
They should cut their losses now and ditch this side project. Now.
Just heard the album the other day…
snore.
