Funny that he doesn’t get along with Horton Heat. I saw him live shortly after that album came out and he was pretty dismissive onstage about Al, too.
I also wish he’d stop telling people “Voices Carry” is about him and Aimee Mann. That song is about someone being ashamed of a lesbian relationship. She wrote a different song about Al, but I don’t remember what it’s called.
HAHA!!! I guess “Voices Carry” is one of those “everyone interprets it the way they want to” type of song. I never really thought it was about any specific person but it always felt to me like a social awareness piece crying about the frustration of being in an abusive and controlling / violent relationship.
I absolutely adore that song, by the way, and had one of those goofy 13 year old kid video crushes on Aimee when that track was getting play.

Back when that album came out, I remember reading how Al got on his knees and begged the Rev. Horton Heat after seeing them perform to produce their next album. I read somewhere else that during a recording session, Al was in the control room, bent over naked with a pencil sticking out of his ass. One of my co-workers at a record shop I worked at during that time period who hated Ministry but loved Horton Heat heard that their bass player hated what Al was doing to their sound. Love that album though. Never knew there was a falling out afterwards, so I guess the bass player story must have had some truth to it.

Well, originally all the lyrics were “her” and “she” instead of “him” and “he”. I guess it could also be seen as if it was sung by Mann from the male perspective.
Wiki:
The song’s lyrics, written by Aimee Mann, are about past sour relationships and were originally written and sung as if to a woman, but changed due to Epic Records’ pressure. The song was inspired by Mann’s breakup with 'Til Tuesday drummer, Michael Hausman.[1]
It’s possible that Al has never heard a TT album since their first official release was in '85. I can recall sitting in the basement lounge at SyncroSound in early '83 with Al listening to a couple of recorded demos that Aimee played for us. One was ‘Love in a Vacuum’ I believe. Aimee and I and a couple of SS folks went out for lunch right afterwards but Al didn’t join us. I actually had no idea until I read it years later that Al and Aimee ever had a thing.
I think the question “Name any other song by Til Tuesday OTHER THAN ‘Voices Carry’” could be a billion dollar question on any gameshow and they would NEVER have to pay out the jackpot.

Never heard it. I actually didn’t even know what she looked like until I checked out your video link. Not bad.[/reply]
I have one or two TT albums that I haven’t listened to in ages. I have to say the Aimee still looks good after all these years.[/reply]

Just curious . . . as one of the 4 people in America that actually own Til Tuesday albums, would you be able to name a song other than “Voices Carry” (also excluded now is the one that Wempathy mentioned even though NO ONE knows it either)?
I could never name more than “Voices Carry”…and I am pretty well versed in 80’s pop culture…I don’t remember the other one that was posted at all…

I’ve never heard it either.
The only 'Til Tuesday trivia questions that ANYONE (yes, myself included) can answer are the following . . .
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL:
“Name 'Til Tuesday’s famous 80’s song”
EXPERT LEVEL:
“Name the lead singer of 80’s one-hit-wonder, Til Tuesday”
IMPOSSIBLE LEVEL:
“Name ANYTHING else at all about Til Tuesday including other band members or songs other than ‘Voices Carry’”

She had lunch with Wempathy.
I’m sorry, but I can’t award you the points just yet as that story is just hearsay. If you can get a second party to verify it or perhaps photographic evidence, you will become ALL TIME UNDISPUTED GRAND CHAMPION MASTER OF TIL TUESDAY TRIVIA!
Always thought Love in a Vacuum was about a drummer
Always thought Love in a Vacuum was about a drummer
I think it’s the sales slogan for the FleshLight.

What is a Fleshlight.?..because I have no idea what a Fleshlight is…I really don’t…I just want to make it perfectly clear that I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT A FLESHLIGHT IS!!!..
:I’ll get my coat:
I’ve heard that it’s some sort of self-pleasuring device.
I guess it runs on 4 AA batteries and typically runs about 29 hours before you need to replace the batteries. There’s 5 speed and pulse settings and you can order various lube packs with it, or so I’ve heard, and you gotta be careful to clean it out regularly or it might smell funny and get a little crusty. Again, I’m just generalizing based on total hearsay.

She’s Sean Penn’s sister-in-law.
