Saw the show last night.
I thought Hemlock sucked - generic metal. I’m not a Meshuggah fan but they were alright. I thought their mix was muddy in the first few songs but the last 3 they did were crisp.
Then Ministry came on.
Same set list we’ve seen:
Let’s Go
The Dick Song
Watch Yourself
Life Is Good
The Last Sucker
No W
Waiting
Worthless
Wrong
Rio Grand Blood
Senor Peligro
Lies Lies Lies
Khyber Pass
So What
N.W.O.
Just One Fix
Thieves
I left before the covers.
I saw another post where someone said the Last Sucker songs sounded better with live drumming. I thought the opposite - the drums sounded muddy on those songs. Highlights from the first set were Watch Yourself, Life is Good, and Worthless. Khyber Pass sounded better on the last tour with that broad screeching into a megaphone.
Al kept saying things like “Dallas is being so quiet, you guys are usually rowdy”. I just kept thinking its probably because these people have never heard any of these songs.
In the break before the encore someone tore down two sections of the fence. On one of them the chain links were torn off the poles so they had to take that section off the stage. During So What some guy got on the stage and grabbed the small middle section of the fence and held on for dear life while security wrestled him and the fence on stage.
The encore was great and I thought Burton Bell was great on the songs he sang.
We left after Thieves because I don’t want to see one of the all time great bands playing embarrassingly ridiculous joke metal versions of terrible 70s butt rock songs.
Overall the show was as expected. Can’t help but be a little disappointed with the hour and a half of Bush trilogy when the encore was so strong even though I do like most of those songs. This show could have been epic but it is what it is. Take 4-5 songs out of main set and replace them with Stigmata, Deity, The Missing, Bad Blood, Breathe, Dead Guy, Unsung or any of that stuff and it would have killed.
