Anyone know about this? For those who dont know it was Rob Halford’s short lived industrial metal project in the late 90’s. John 5 was also the guitarist and this is what he did before he joined Manson. Their one album Voyeurs was produced by Trent Reznor and accrording to wikipedia it was released on Nothing but I dont see the band listed on the Nothing discog on ninwiki. I’ve only heard a couple songs from the album and I liked what I heard but I imagine this album is hard to find now. Any other opinions?
That snare sounds exactly like Ministry.
Halford, like Alice Cooper, kind of dipped his finger into whatever genre seems hot at the moment. “Industrial” was one of them, though he was a little late on it. Lowery was on it if I remember, and Reznor co-produced it.
It was pretty lame, actually. It also did not get any airplay, and it didn’t help that the video was over the top flamboyant (i.e. extremely gay).
It’s on discogs.com as “two”. http://www.discogs.com/artist/Two+(2)
Halford tried a different kind of vocal style for it. It’s not very good - probably the low point of the nothing label.
I have this album, bought it when it came out. The single “I Am A Pig” got some local airplay here (North Carolina) Other than the single there was one other ok song, otherwise it was a big waste of time.
I’ve owned it twice. It’s a pretty cool cd for what it is. A few years back Halford put some of the unreleased session tracks from this project that displayed different directions. Some were more tinged with his trade mark vocal style than what you hear on the record. Like I said, it was cool for what it was but nothing mind blowing. The unreleased stuff was kind of more cool since you hear john 5 show off a bit and old school Halford vocals + synths.
Yeah Halford did say that the demos were heavier than what was put out. I tried looking for em on his website but all you can download is solo stuff and a bunch of stuff from his band Fight. I liked I Am A Pig and the one other song I heard from it had falsettos on it from what I remember.
And how was the vid gay? It had mostly chicks in it
I imagine this album is hard to find now.

And reading that I see that Phil Western was involved with this release. Strange…

Yes this is one of those releases when Phil was doing studio work for Bryan Adams (yes that one!). It was partly recorded at Adam’s Warehouse Studios in Vancouver with Dave ‘Rave’ Ogilvie engineering. Bryan oddly enough has always been supportive of the electronic scene in Vancouver, and I believe Rave finished mixing Skinny Puppy’s The Process there. Along with Phil, Anthony Valcic of MOEV and Download played on Voyeurs.
Somewhere the demos are floating around, and he does directly sample Ministry. Can’t remember details.
so i just picked up a copy of the CD and DLed the Demos, so i now have somethign new to ‘look forward to’
the reviews i have seen keep comparing it to Stabbing Westward… well… that sounds like ass… but i will find out i guess.
2wo Really isn’t as bad as I anticipated. Halford (love him or hate him) can sing which is a bit of a rarity with all of processed vocals in this genre.
I’ve only given it one listen, but was somwhat surprised that I didn’t loathe it.
Just read some more info on the album. Halford said that Trent had too much control over the production. And I guess Trent also disowns the album. I also read an interview where Halford said he’d never do a Priest reunion lmao
Rob Halford needs to hook up with Iommi/Geezer/Appice.
I saw him do Paranoid and it sucked. Would’ve been better if they played it in a key that better suited his vocal style. Now singing some Dio era stuff could work. It’s happened before
I was thinking they’d just do new material.
I actually really like the 2wo album.
I am a pig , gimp , and stutter Kiss are all great songs. Still listen to it quite alot.
Its really cheap on amazon.
the album sounds kinda… eh… not my type of ‘industrial’.
but the demos are kinda cool. i wish they had better production quality, but i guess that might change some of the cool sound they have.
all in all, i would rather listen to Skinny Puppy. hahaha.
