220-215

That was tighter than the Trisomie 21 corset!

How big is the Democrat majority in the Senate?

was this the version of the bill that your medicare/medicaid coverage isn’t as high so you get less money from it?

i ask because they’ve, from what i read or at least understand, tried changing this bill alot in the last days hours…

Been stuck student teaching the last week so I am completely lost on the news. You don’t sit on your ass for 5 months and then pick up a Pseudo job and keep up with a normal routine. What is the 210-215 health care bill? Vote that it passed failed?

It passed…barely…

It passed…barely…

and that was the health care bill? Did it pass completely? or was that just out of the House or a committee? Public option included? or is it that assanine “We’ll give you 5 grand to go buy your own Health care” that Dumb ass McCain Proposed in the Election; that Obama shot holes through, and now apparently thinks it’s a good idea?

What I gather (from a few 1000 miles away) is that House version of the healthcare bill which was just passed is a different bill from the Senate healthcare bill. If and when the Senate bill is passed both houses then have to pass a third bill (presumably an amalgam of the first 2) before it goes to the big dog who gives it the ol’ John Hancock and all the rich people throw a wobbler. It’s going to cost $1,000,000,000,000.

Yeah, this was just the bill that was passed. Now it’s going to be passed on over again, to be voted on, again. And, amazingly enough, a bunch of democrats voted against, but, a republican from down here voted for. That’s fucking funny to me.

It seems like very few Senators/ representatives (From Both sides of the Isle) want this thing to pass and those that say they are “For it” are just humoring the prez!
Nobody can get this shit straight and it seems that they really don’t care to because ultimately it’s making Obama Look bad!
Obama should just write the damn thing himself and get a fucking senator to sponsor/adopt it and introduce it! (for those outside the US only a Representative or senator can introduce a bill) that way there is no bitching about who said what and who wants what!

i want the same “socialized” government funded (ie–taxpayer funded) healthcare each and every one of those members of congress gets.if these idiots can’t agree on a concensus for an option to let the government compete with private insurers
the public discourse on this is embarrassingly lacking in the outrage which should be there.they can debate their asses off and see their doctors in the morning. paid for by you and by me. hemorroids to them all.
and in a perfect world our president who’s smarter than most could write a bill. but that’s not possible within our three tiered system. that’s the legislature’s job.
DAMN.

didn’t obama make some state of emergency declaration a week or 2 ago due to the swine flu which gave him some executive order powers? if im not mistaken can’t he just make him own laws in that case? If he wanted medicare for add we’d have it…
this is all a bait and switch… something is either happening someplace that we need to be distracted from, OR some shit medical bill is going to be passed as a compromise, which is really what they wanted to pass from the beginning, but it wouldn’t have gone down as nicely without the whole whoopla that got people sick of hearing about medical bills and just want SOMETHING passed to get it over with

in a perfect world our president who’s smarter than most could write a bill.

He can write it he just can’t introduce it on the floor. He would have to get a senator to take it and introduce it. President isn’t even allowed in Congress without an invitation. But as far as writing Bills he has complete power to do so. He would have to follow the channels that a normal citizen does in order to get it voted on an what not the way citizens do. “get a hold of Your congressman and give them the Proposed legislation and see if they will sponsor it by submitted it on the floor of Congress… Bla Bla Bla Yadda Yadda Yadda”

carmangary…to the rescue!
for levity,that is.
uh. thanks.

I’m all for some sort of public option, but I get a little suspicous when a bill has to be something like 16000 pages or however long it is.

That’s due to the Conservacrats nickel and diming every fucking statement in the that’s made! As a matter if fact I’ve heard that this bill is going to basically outlaw abortion. There trying to money there way into inadvertently overturning Roe V Wade

from what i’ve read, it is just not going to give you money for one. You’re free to have as many abortions as you want, just they won’t cover the bill. A BIG BIG mistake in my book. I mean so who will wind up reproducing more? The uneducated and the poor, while the slowly dissapearing middle class and the upper class can get rid of as many of their demon seed as they choose and not worry, every baby mama is gonna be forced to keep it through and put it up for adoption or keep it for herself… probably costing us MORE in the long run in child care, welfare, WIC, and all those wonderful programs to feed kids from the poor.

mike judge made a funny movie about stupid and poor people having more kids than the intelligent and eventually over time people were watering their food with gatorade and wondering why the shit wouldn’t grow

Idiocracy

“Your children have just been confiscated by Carl’s jr. Have a great day”

Abortions for some, miniature American flags for others.

The Way I understood it on MSNBC was that if any woman has the public option they will NOT be eligible for an abortion EVEN if she is using her OWN money. I guess (and this my own thinking here) is that some of the more conservative law makers believe that said woman would be able to use her own money because of the Money she was able to save by being on the public option which is still kinda like getting the government to pay for it because she wouldn’t have that Money if it wasn’t for the Public option. Sure Wish I could remember the name on that provision-It was a double name. For some reason Mac comes to mind but don’t hold me to that

Stupak Amendment:

Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) is warning fellow Democrats not to mess with his restrictive anti-abortion amendment.

Pro-choice outrage was sparked by the inclusion of a provision in the House health care bill making it harder for private insurers to cover abortion. President Obama himself suggested that the language disrupted the status quo and should be taken out of the final legislation. Abortion rights supporters in Congress requested a meeting with the president next week to discuss the issue.

Now Stupak is saying he won’t go easily.

“We won because [the Democrats] need us,” Stupak said. "If they are going to summarily dismiss us by taking the pen to that language, there will be hell to pay. I don’t say it as a threat, but if they double-cross us, there will be 40 people who won’t vote with them the next time they need us – and that could be the final version of this bill.

All power to the destruction of this stupak ammendment.
