13th Planet Store 5.20 CD Sale

Well, Al’s turning 52 and all CDs on their online store are now $5.20… Get it? With all these recent Cleopatra releases and now this sale… Who knows?

Al’s done his dash…good riddance.

Too bad there’s no new album to order at the moment. I never noticed this before, but some of the label’s CDs aren’t listed in the store anymore (Prong, Prong remixes, False Icons, Wicked Lake soundtrack)- maybe this stuff sells a little better than we think?

There’s also a new POSTER that costs $69. Now that’s ridiculous!

Yeah what a crying shame.

I doubt it.

It should be 6.9 cents.

Those are older releases, so they’re probably long gone. And now they’re just trying to get rid of all the inventory that’s left before they close up shop and move it all over to Cleo.

The Prong remixes, False Icons and Wicked Lake CDs came out less than 2 years ago. I don’t know how many were made, but I’ve heard it’s typical for CD factories to consider 500 or 1000 a minimum number, pressing 100 or 200 CDs isn’t very practical and rarely gets done. So I would guess that each of those CDs sold, on average, at least one copy every day between being released and being sold out! But then I remembered that the 13th Planet store itself only has one portion of the total run, and the rest are still out in the bargain bins of other stores, so maybe not. [:P]

I wonder if the Xmas single was among the CDs for sale. I’m just guessing everything that’s not for sale is now sold out. That poster is strange though, from all their recent actions and lack of publicity it seems like 13th Planet wouldn’t be offering a poster that says 5th anniversary on it. More like MMV-MMX RIP.

I don’t recall the Xmas single ever being sold individually, only in the Xmas bundle. I wouldn’t be too surprised if they bring it back next month, if 13th Planet still exists then.

This is referred to in the business world as a “Going Out of Business Sale”.

Too bad I don’t even want those crappy CD’s even if they were free.

the only one i would buy is rio grande blood…but i already have it! damnit!

Just wait until you see them all on Ebay advertised as “Rock and Roll Drink Coasters: Set of 1000”.

You know I’ll bet you some of the more affluent piss army members will actually be drooling over an Al signed $69 poster, especially that one french guy… remember him, ol whatsis name, that fucker who tries to dress and look like Al. He wore a leather biker jacket and a beard with sunglasses and a black bandanna. What a dork. [laugh]

I think he bought a lot of Al’s old shit on ebay, including some of those deer skull microphone stands. I’ve never seen anyone in a deeper state of denial than he was about Al’s new material sucking balls…

That dude, MAXMAL, just disappeared all of a sudden and no one heard from him again. But yeah, he was a little obsessively gay for Grandpa J. He bought the same motorcycle boots, wore the same bandanas. He even would get all gay for whatever stupid band Al said was great (Cheap Trick, ZZ Top, Dwight Yoakam, Buck Owens . . .). It was hilarious.

What about the good’ol days when pb4pb just started and you could be anyone…so I was maxmal and everyone was chuffed to hear from me hahahaha…

I think maxmal left because quite a few folk from the PA had become disenchanted with Al’s banal output and it was too much for him to bare???

I mean…it must be pretty hard to deal with when your number 1 hero over many MANY years becomes such a giant goof-ball and ends up releasing absolutely horrible music and trashing the name of a once important band.

That does have to suck. You spend your life’s savings and every waking moment worshipping some guy and trying to be him and then you’re hit with . . . . “Cover Up”, “El Cocko Mixxxo”, “Mixxxes of the Meh”, “Undercover”, “Halloween Mixxx”, Flock of Seagulls Remix, and countless other piles of crap.

I mean, every day he must wake up hating himself just a little more. That would suck.
