I was paging through magazines at Barnes & Noble yesterday, and I found an interview with Al in “Classic Rock.” There wasn’t all that much of interest in it, aside from the fact that Ministry is now apparently considered Classic Rock, and a sidebar on 1000 Homo DJs. In it, Al claimed that the vocals on Hey Asshole were done by a cop who would come by the studio and shake them down for drugs. Naturally, my Jourgensen-BS meter went off, but I was wondering if anyone knew something to support or refute that. I know Prongs has the personnel form 1000 Homo DJs listed, but what’s the source on it?
I recall some discussion some time ago on this board about who the cop voice was. I want to say Martin Atkins… But my memory may be befuddled. Yes, the anecdote seems to be pure jourgensonian bullshit - typically triggered by naive interviewers.
Correction… That was Jeff Ward. And, no, he was never a cop.
I read that somewhere too ages ago, apparantly the “cop” did it for a box of records to give to friends and when he opened the box to find they were called “1000 Homo Dj’s” he wasnt too impressed.
yeah…i think it’s jeff ward.

also drummed for nin live for the lollapalooza tour was partially responsible for the way “Broken” turned out

Jeff Ward was Officer Aggro, but apparently Jello does vocals on Hey Asshole as well. Jeff was also the live drummer for the Beers, Steers, and Queers tour. Its a shame what happened to him, he murdered his girlfriend then commited suicide by leaving his car on in the garage[:/]

Actually, that’s not true. He did kill himself, but the thing about his girlfriend isn’t. It was actually listed somewhere on this site forever, and is one of the biggest mistakes I think ever got listed here. We’ve actually got his obit listed here - http://prongs.org/ministry/JeffWard-Obit

Thanks for clearing that up Bisquitodoom, I’m sorry I reiterated that mistake. As sad as Jeff’s suicide was it’s somewhat of a relief to know that he didn’t kill her after all.
goddamn it!!!
i was just telling someone the cop story the other day…
and i’ve told heaps of people that…
shit.
whoi the fuck started that one???
