whenever it was that al drank one too many glasses of grape flavor-aid and started sincerely believing that everyone and their mother was out to get him. especially the aliens.
Joining the Twitch-Darkside (86-99) camp though I’d include the 12" Singles and selected songs from Sympathy for good measure. For me the run of albums and releases (anything with the Luxa/Pan production stamp) during those years ranks with the longest uninterrupted creative journeys in all rock.
EDIT: Animositisomina too! Still what I consider a slept-on album.
I’m surprised at the almost total lack of votes for Psalm 69. I like it myself but i prefer Filth Pig and DSOTS. I’m pleased at the number of people who like those so much, they’re amazing albums.
the mind is a terrible thing to taste / filth pig / last dubber
81-89 is my favorite era. The Mind tour was my favorite concert, CU Latour my least favorite. Relapse is the only Ministry album where I don’t like any of the songs. The 12" mixes of Halloween and Stigmata are my two favorite songs. Git Up Git Out and Vote and anything off of Relapse qualifies as their worst songs, though judging from the Beer to Eternity samples, Lesson Unlearned has the potential to be the absolute worst thing Ministry has recorded.
1002
“99Percenters” is the worst song Ministry ever recorded in my opinion.
I shudder just thinking about it.
Depends on my mood but usually ‘Filth Pig’, ‘Dark Side of the Spoon’ and ‘Animositisomina’ period is my go to.

I was just thinking this the other day while I was listening to it. Filth Pig - Dark Side of the Spoon - Animositisomina were a nice run of albums.
I absolutely love everything from the Cold Life 12" to Dark Side of the Spoon. So for me 1980-2000.
Everything after is enjoyable, but isn’t as solid and brilliant than the first 20 years.
I would say that LORAH is their best, most innovative album from front to back, and I think the 80’s in general are my preferred era (lately, With Sympathy is actually the one I revisit the most).
I’m one of the many fans that got into them on the back of Psalm 69, when my brother’s friend came back from Lollapalooza talking about them. Oddly, I feel like there are very few Psalm 69-era fans left. Everyone that’s into Ministry now seems to either have been in to them earlier, or discovered them later. Am I wrong, or did that album create a barrage of fair weather fans that didn’t stick it out? Actually, I guess I quit after Rio Grande Blood, but I’m still a fan of what the band was.
