The new joker seems pretty fucking creepy though. Had my doubts about Heath Ledger, but he proved me wrong. That trailer was fucking amazing.
Adam West vs. Christian Bale.
My money’s on West. He’s a man who likes his taffy.

Mayor West vs. Patrick Bateman
I suppose one could provisionally lay blame on Frank Miller’s Dark Knight, and it’s violent, illliberal interpretation that was so in keeping with a political zeitgeist exemplified by Reagan’s law-and-order proclamamtions, along with the high-powerd shills who eagerly gave it media play.
see… i find that the book was a perfect visualization and story for ministry’s music at the time. batman is the ultimate rebel in a world of cyber blandness…
The Prince and Elfman soundtracks are garbage.
umm… no. the elfman soundtrack is what MAKES batman. hell, between his score, and the old duh duh duh duh duh duh-duh BATMAN! song, batman now has 2 of the coolest theme songs…
Still can’t forget the rubbish DC cranked out before this thing sprang. Remember the “Death in the Family” series within a series with it’s classic invitation to phone in and and cast your vote ( it was rigged btw ) to kill Robin? The umpteenth printing of Moore and Bollands’s so-so Killing Joke substantially contributed to the Jokers popularity. I like Moore a bit and found his Swamp Things eloquent - but find Killing Joke somewhat disgusting.
as a comic fan, and a moore fan i think you couldnt be more wrong about killing joke at all.
as with death in the family, it was a cool idea, and a new way of writing comice. not a great story, but surely an interesting one.
Burton’s film in it’s effort not to be cliche fails hard by excess.
He treated Batman pretty much with the same stylistic abandon he’s treated everything else. I realize he likes to exaggerate buildings and atomosphere with the intent to transcend mere settings and amplify the characters surroundings to reflect emotional states - but it makes watching his stuff a lot more arduous than necessary.
ahh… well see… here i just dissagree. i think while at times burty can go over-board (nightmare, sleepy hollow) i think here he did the best job anyone has (other than proyas with the Crow) bringign a comic book to life. burt’s batman is as close to the grit, the pain, and the feel of batman that the big screen will EVER come.
and batman the animated series? FUCKING GOLD.
and for the record adam west is an awesome guy, and nowhere near as crazy as he makes himself seem. haha.

Nice. Moore’s my favorite author. I actually collect original art from his run on Swamp Thing. And With Sympathy live shows…
i loved the animated series as well.
probably more than the burton film actually.
i also agree that the score of the first batman film was great.
i think prince fit perfectly to the mood of the film.

i heard a while ago that bowie was doing a concept album based on the watchmen.
once i finished cumming with joy, a few years had passed and i figured that it would never happen…
i do love moore though, the man is a bearded god.
I like some Miller stuff. He’s good at the gritty urban stuff.
McKean… overrated. Great, but not as great as people make him out to be.
As far as writers are concerned, Ive been enjoying Garth Ennis quite a bit recently. His redefined Punisher is good stuff IMO.
I dont consider myself a comic book expert, but I read a lot as a kid (back then I was abviously more into the typical soap opera Batman and Spiderman stuff). Nowadays, when I see something interesting I always check it out.
Batman Begins is hands-down the best Batman movie. How can that even be debated, seriously? I can be sentimental about some things from the 80’s, and I think the first movie is OK, but nothing holds a candle to the prequel. I was pretty impressed by how The Joker is portrayed in the trailer for the new flick. The darker, the better, I say.
1002
Dave Mckean
This guy (if I’m not mistaken) did the artwork for the Paradise Lost album “Shades of God” (one of my favorite discs ever). If the rest of his work is anything like that… crazy.
yeah and that is one of his better covers as well…
he did plenty of them though, just check out his website…
