Why does it have to be always so complex (FIX)

I’m pretty sure the Al interview that was posted in a thread states that he hired a manager and it might even give the new manager’s name.
I don’t think he fired Angie. I think someone finally figured something out.

Al’s manager got busted trying to record the “Fix” screening . . . hang on just a second . . .

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

!!

Okay. I’m good.

No, wait a second . . .

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I might have to finish this later. Seriously, that’s the
funniest thing I’ve read in a long time.

yes that really is hilarious can we get some elaborating?

Yes, that’s weird and funny, but no reason to break the frame.

Sorry, Dudes. I forgot the text doesn’t automatically wrap. I fixed it.

Not sure it’s related but while in line to get into the Metro on Saturday I overheard something interesting. When security looked at the guy’s in front of me ID, he got on his “walkie” to notify the rest of security to follow this guy and make sure he was not recording the show. Seems as though they knew his name and were notified if he showed up to be on the alert.

Let the games begin!

Thanks for posting. This was anything but unpredictable. I really hope this thing gets done and put to DVD before I die.

Big jealous props to you and Afra and anyone else who got to see this 30 years before the rest of us (assuming we EVER get to see it).

Afra, 1002, filthpig, and myself have seen it.

He wants his money immediately, but nobody has any money to give him unless the movie is released. If they had the money upfront, it wouldn’t have taken 15 years and an investor to fund it, put it together, and release it.
If he’s seen the whole thing already, objected to one thing that was subsequently edited out, and doesn’t care about the rest of it, then it’s about the $$$$ and nothing else.
Someone pay him the 70k he’s owed and be done with it already!

I have a feeling they showed the movie last weekend because they knew they would NEVER be able to pay Al, so it was their only opportunity.

Movie tickets were $15. Two showings, 7:30 and 10:30pm.
Even if all the seats sold out for both showings (~750), it’s not a whole lot after all fees are paid.

Pretty much exactly what I was thinking, Moon!
That’s really the only part where I actually sympathized with Al. Freel’s answer of “Yeah, we know we owe Al the money but we’re strapped for cash,” was pretty lame.

I’ve got enough clients that I have to chase down which use the same excuse. Sorry, Amigos! Net 30 does not mean, “Pay me when your client finally gets around to paying YOU.”

I’ll be surprised if that film ever breaks even and that doesn’t even include what it will take to market it. Give me some perks and I’ll post flyers on telephone poles for free, though.

It cost them $180,000.00, I think it said, right. Plus they owe Jourgensen $70,000.00 — So, yeah, their in for a quarter mil.

I don’t know much about DVD production costs and distribution costs, but let’s just say they’ll try to sell this thing for $19.95 a piece and $10 from each disc is pure margin . . . they’d need to clear 25,000 units just to get to break even. Of course, this is all skewed because they’ll all be pissing away that margin as we speak as they fight amongst themselves and the lawyers are the only ones getting paid.

With proper promotion I think they could make this film a success. But missing Cannes is a huge fail right from the get go and I think that will just be one incident in a long coming trail of embarrassment.

Ironically, if someone had snuck in a camcorder and ripped a boot recording of this they’d make way more shilling this on the black market than the people who made the film ever will.

I wouldn’t be surprised if there is a buried torrent out there somewhere.

i’m sure this movie would ake more money if it could get released, thus increasing the chances of profits for all involved? i don’t know, i never went to school for buisiness…[crazy]

Glad the filmmakers aren’t taking this lying down. Besides which how many people does Al fucking owe money to? [:P]

EDIT - I suppose I should pay more attention to the post directly above…

“We’re still selling the movie,” says Ed Bates, whose company Gigantic Pictures acquired the film’s distribution rights last year. “We’re excited to go into court and prove our case . . . [Jourgensen and his wife Angie] have done this stuff before. They’re bullies. No one’s ever hit back. They’re going to feel the pain.”

HAHAHA!!! AWESOME! I missed that earlier too.

This is muddled, but i think that Al may be winning this one.

quote #1

Doug Freel failed to give him contractually required final-cut approval of the film or pay him $70,000 for life-story rights

I read this as Freel pays Al 70Gs and he can release to film whatever he wants, OR Freel gets Al’s permission on what to release and Al forgoes the 70Gs. neither scenario happened. Since neither of these scenarios happened that means Freel has no film to sell/give to Bates which in turn means Bates has no film to release.

quote #2

Freel maintains that he fulfilled his obligation to get Jourgensen’s approval of all the footage in the film.

Then based on quote #1 he shouldn’t owe Al 70 grand.

quote # 3

Freel and Bates both claim that the $70,000 the film’s production company Fix LLC owes Jourgensen has no bearing on Bates’s right to distribute the film.

I beg to differ, if Freel has not secured the correct permissions/obligations Bates has no right to distribute the film because there technically no film to release.

I guess I see it as this:

If I sell my car to Freel and Freel has yet to pay me, then Freel is in no position to sell the car to Bates. So Bates may not drive the car or part it out, but Bates insists he’s allowed to do what he wants to the car because he’s bought the car from Freel. Which as we know Freel has not held up his end of the deal in the first place, which makes the deal between Freel and Bates null and void.

Just how I see it based on what’s been written. sucks cause I really wanna see the flick but looks like Al may be winning this. either that or it’s a publicity stunt to move ore units…
