What's everyone reading?

Toshio Maeda’s “Demon Beast Invasion.” EXTREMELY fucked up graphic novel which basically started the whole grotesque/horror-erotica genre.

Ugly, brutal, violent, and slightly alluring. Mmm-mmm.

Haha, does it have violating tentacle monsters?

Anybody else on goodreads?

Pretty cool site, you can keep track of the books you read, rate them, write reviews and talk to other members. Best thing is it’s owned by some independently wealthy guy who runs it with no advertising. Feel free to add me if you like:

Right now I’m reading Xenocide by Orson Scott Card, the second sequel to Ender’s Game.

That reminds me I need to try JG Ballard again. I tried him once when I was 19 or so and I probably wasn’t ready for it at the time.

Actually got my Mom to read My Life as Revolting Cock… She loves it haha. Us being from Milwaukee she’s thrilled to hear about “The Residents” being mentioned in the book, the Eagle’s Ballroom, and so on.

Indeed it does, and the translation makes it all the more wonderful.

“UHHH! I HAVE LOST… I HAVE NO RIGHT TO TEACH ANYMORE!”

I’m into the audiobook of Peter Hook’s biography. Pretty interesting, in the middle of the Joy Division stuff, he does the reading himself so it’s a bit like hanging out with him yammering on about the old days. Great fun!

I’m actually reading Bernard Sumner’s book. Quite a bit different style than Peter Hook’s, but still very interesting. I think I liked Peter Hook’s better, as Bernard’s is more “a story here and a story there”. But I wish Peter hadn’t stopped at the start of New Order. Sort of a bad place to finish your story, but I suppose he wanted to leave it open to a sequel.

I actually wanted to listen to Summer’s but there was no audiobook so I went with Hooky, which I’ve been surprised by how much I like. He’s totally a “Jack the lad” Northern boy which makes for a vastly more entertaining read than I e pelted for a Joy Division bio. I do wish he would go into the New Order stuff (I didn’t realize he didn’t until I got a ways in and figured there would be no time to fit in much more past Closer).

He definitely has his issues with Sumner but I’m surprised how complimentary he is about his playing. I’d wish for them to get back together, if I didn’t feel the recent New Order album didn’t benefit without having him,

Just started into England’s Hidden Reverse, a biography of Current 93, Coil, and Nurse With Wound.

That’s a fantastic read.

I’ve thought about picking that up on several occasions. Let me know how it is!

Honestly, I enjoyed it less than I expected to.
