What's everyone listenin' to Vol. IX

[reply]
Cocks (everything, but cocked and loaded)

agreed[/reply]

QFT [:)]

Scott Walker - The Drift
Scott Walker - Scott4
Whitehouse - Cruise
Faust - So Far
Jim O’Rourke - Disengage

U.S.S.A.: “The Spoils” (You lucky bastards in the U.K. are getting some tasty bonus material on the U.K. release… pisses me off…Smile)

Do what now?

Roxy Music - Country Life
The Stooges - Funhouse
Velvet Underground - Velvet Underground And Nico
XTC - Skylarking
David Sylvian - Secrets Of The Beehive
Nico - Desertshore

All of those have been faves of mine at one time or another, though I don’t listen to much XTC these days, preferring Martin Newell when tapping that genre.

I thought I was the only person with a copy of ‘Secrets of the Beehive’. There are a couple of songs from ‘Dead Bees on Cake’ that pop up on my i-Pod now and then.

Always been a big Japan fan.

Killing Joke - Fire Dances/Night Time/Brighter Than…/Outside remastered/reissues.

They’re out? I didn’t think those were coming out until like summer.

indeed they are out sir. Brighter’s got the unreleased mix on it (kimsey’s) and Fire Dances sounds excellent (bass & drums? who knew?). Night Time is fairly crisp and all of them have a ‘good’ amount (6+ each) of bonus material.

Yeah, the band posted it on their MySpace a few weeks ago.
TWO tracks.
TWO.
Looks like I’m gonna have to get the album again. [:)]

all i see new on their myspace page is “Cab Ride II”, what is that? seems like an alternate version… what’s the other bonus track on the UK edition?

oh, that’s not the bonus track. there are two new songs…

“The Spoils” will see its’ Euro/UK release in early April of '08 through Essential. There will be 2 bonus tracks (“Surveillance” and “Heavenly”) that were recorded and mixed especially for the import cd.

that’s nice!!

Don’t listen to much XTC either - apart from Skylarking and Mummer. Nobody I know is into them.

I thought I was the only person with a copy of ‘Secrets of the Beehive’.

You’re just about the only person - actually there’s probably about twelve of us walking around loving that album. Nothing else in his back catalogue lives up to that album tho’.

They’re ok. But I prefer Roxy Music.

Synthpop stuff - Neuropa, B!Machine

I hate when bands pull that nonsense.
Looks like I’ll be doing a little filesharing.

A Day in the Stark Corner is good. Exceedingly good.

Vague, doubtful, lonely, sad, and beautiful.

Highest recommendation.

My favorite Lycia album. Really moody, my favorite tracks are Pygmallion and The morning breaks so cold. Hey Jizzwad, are you a fan of the Lycia side project “Bleak”. I always liked that one, it’s got great atmosphere. Really desolate, bit more electronic than Lycia.

King Crimson (esp. Sartori in Tangier & Devil’s Triangle), Terje Rypdal (esp. U’ N.I.) and a few soundtracks (namely Terminator 2). I think the USSA album will be the next album I get.

Bleak came out in the mid-90s. It’s pretty good, but the album gets repetetive after awhile.

I think that Bleak album came out around 95, they only put out one album “Vane”. Worth checking out

currently:

Cavalera Conspiracy - Inflikted
Protest The Hero - Fortress
Kosmos - Kosmos

:wumpscut:: “Wreath of Barbs,” “Evoke”

Cavalera Conspiracy - Inflikted

Why…didn’t they just release this under the name ‘Sepultura’. Considering the Cavalera bros. started Sepultura in the first place - they should be able to lay claim to the name once again.

I mean…were Sepultura ANYTHING without Max Cavalera?

By the way, is the new album any good???

Its a dissapointment.
Which means its passable and sometimes enjoyable but judging by their earlier comments about the project, it was supposed to be like those old Sep albums, and its not.

The old genius sometimes shines through (how they were able to make interesting songs out of nothing but metal cliches) but not nearly often enough.
