The joke that this song relies on is just not that funny, certainly not funny enough to carry the tune, and the tune isn’t that interesting enough to appreciate it from a musical standpoint. The hillbilly humor worked well in Revolting Cocks and Ministry, but this just sounds like a weak attempt to capture the formula that worked so well in the Biafra/Nixon project.
I agree w/Gunnar that this would be passable as a b-side, but unfortunately this seems to be one of the main offerings.
But hey, at least he’s doing this crap under a different name rather than dragging Ministry or the Cocks name further through the mud!
Why doesn’t he just do a serious country album, more on the blues side? Lard know he’s had his share of bad luck country stories he could recount about his wife taking his dog and his pick up, federal raids etc etc etc Al, do it for Johnny…x-rated hillbilly hee haw schtick= revco, Folsom Prison Blues = buck satan… Needle and the Damage Done = Buck Satan, Waylon Jennings - I`ve Always Been Crazy = Buck Satan, Hank Williams I’ll never get out of this world alive = buck satan… just with Al’s take on it…
lol just listened and he kind of did that I guess…but it sounds like a muppet singing
From the interview he did a little while back, I was under the impression that he did the majority of the album sober. Haven’t heard the new one, but I thought the other two were “interesting”.
IIRC, he sobered up shortly after recording the album. In the same interview he said he was nervous about going back to the studio because that’s the environment in which he’d be likely to fall back off the wagon.
Yeah, I don’t remember the sources, but I seem to recall him saying they were drunk all the time when they were making the record, so I think his sobriety (anyone placing bets on how long that lasted) came after the creation of the album.
Drunk, high, sober, tired . . . I don’t care what state he was in at the time. This is just not a good track.
It sounds like all the sounds were pulled off a midi sampler, or one of those old Synclaviers. Fuck, if you’re gonna make a real country album, use real fucking instruments.
He’s lost the fucking plot. It was just painful to listen to. And as for the vocals, that really does sound like him, imho. What happened to singing like this?- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGwMmwppLh4
To me, that’s a fucking truly beautiful rendition. And just looking at all the comments below the video, a lot of people are gonna be very, very, very disappointed… [:(]

Never actually heard that cover. Damn not bad. Yeah he really could sing too bad we never got to hear it except the first 2 albums lol.
This Buck Satan should have been like this. The song I heard the other night was GOD AWFUL!! Fuck!!
Voice is shot to shit. Not sure how capable of an actual singer he could be these days. Of course we’ll never know, but maybe he could pull off some Tom waits type stuff.
if al’is all country, at this point in his career(and we all know what THAT looks like), he should do a cover of loretta lynn, "you ain’t woman enough "might be the perfect intro to al’s reality check. if he’s still breathing.
And just looking at all the comments below the video…

that looks like the show i put up on torrent a few years ago. I think Gila was going to (or did) put it on you tube with the sound cleaned up.
