Where do I start. The non-too subtle attempts to make his generic and uninspired brand of industrial ‘shocking’ and somewhat relevant, when it did little more than make others laugh at him. The hokey, if not none-too-narcissistic, ‘promo’ photos. The second rate dodgy cheapo production, props, photos, etc (I ain’t trying to sound like a rich kid here: I’m broke and didn’t spend a cent on recording any of my music or photos, etc). The fact a man well into his 20s, if not 30s, is attempting to make juvenile shock-statements pass for something genuinely politically and musically relevant.
I think void’s just pissed cause everyone shit all over his MWAT song…And to go along with that, quite a few here rip on Manson’s image, which I’m sure he takes to heart 'cause you could tell by his poses in his “promo” pics that he’s all about mimmicking manson…

But to counter his arguments against us jaded types, you can hardly blame fans for being blase about what Al spits out these days - ie dumbed down political kiddy thrash for Slipknot fans. Sure I like the odd ‘politically aware’ album as much as the next guy, but I don’t want to be bludgeoned with whatever lopsided pro/anti message the artist is trying to sell. There is a thing called subtlety and there should be room for interpretation. With Al however, you are either for what he is peddling or you are in his way. Which I find really irritating. I also expect a certain degree of musical creativity and professionalism too (call me old fashioned). You don’t really get that with nu-Ministry. It’s all meathead macho biker bravado and posturing - aspiring to attain a level of ‘toughness’ to make the music (and the message) seem all the more plausible with creativity and raw talent coming a distant second (or even third!!!).
And as for Marilyn Manson…well, it’s all so passe you can’t help but yawn and flip the channel and stare at the next ‘sensationalist’ to come along and shock the oldies.

(ex)Ministry fans. A bunch of elitist 30 somethings and ex-band members who do nothing but whine about the latest Al Jourgensen abomination and call fans of other bands elitist. They lead dull lives but conversation sometimes drifts to the old days when they drank and did drugs during the ‘Mind’ or ‘Psalm’ tour, at which point scornful talk of Al’s alcoholism and the deterioration of his mental functions is mandatory.
That could describe any number of fans of any number of bands who have fallen from grace or into obscurity. I don’t see ex Ministry fans as being in a class of their own. Actually, from what I have witnessed online, it would appear that Metallica fans bitch and whine (about Metallica and about other bands) more than any other fanbase I’ve ever come across. And I’m sure plenty of them lead dull lives to boot.
What do you think will happen in 5 or so years when this current crop of Manson fans hit the jaded 30s?? Will they be bitching about the latest Manson atrocity and whining about the good ol’ days then like we are now? I’m sure we’re not alone in this.
In fact, the (ex)Ministry fan’s entire perception of what is mainstream and widely popular is frozen in time between 1998 and 2000. This is partially due to the fact that most (ex)Ministry fans reside in Australia.

The (ex)Ministry fan often poses as a moderate but is in fact a liberal douche (except Peligro), poses as a non-elitist but is in fact an elitist, and pretends to be a sociopath but is actually just an average middle class person.
I don’t really identify with any political demographic. I suppose I am middle class and average though - you’ve got me there. Not sure about the ‘elitist’ tag. That’s possible. In the past I have disagreed with you about any number of bands (namely Manson though) which may have rubbed you up the wrong way. I don’t hate these bands you profess to like merely because they are commericial as such moreso because they appear to be little more than shallow, pretentious calls to arms for jaded metal loving teenagers. Scratch the surface and there’s very little substance to what they are doing. The lyrics are dumb and the music is crass, talentless and overstated.

These days I find Voidhead one of the most entertaining aspects of Prongs, especially when he posts photos.
