I actually liked one of the GNR songs …title escapes me at the moment…but then again I’m one of the 7 people who liked Chinese Democracy…
You can tell use your illusion was the last of the back catalog.
Chinese pretty much shows writers block/extreme laziness setting in to stay.
It’s hard to keep coming up with material when the expectations from past material reign in.
It’s a done deal, gnr were at the right place at the right time in '86.
Makes you wander, who actually wrote appetite, can’t be present company.
I don’t hate chinese demcracy, but it’s definitely not guns. It’s ok for what it is and there are decent tracks on it but it’s just kind of a pop album more than anything else.
Yeah one song was better than the other of the new two released… I think Atlas was the one that was so bad it had no redeeming qualities.

Chinese was Axl trying to be a conductor with a bunch of session musicians.
Izzy and slash wrote most of the back catalog. But Izzy got clean and left and Slash wasn’t about to be a session musician to Axl. You can tell because all of slash’s solo shit is fantastic, Same with Izzy’s solo catalog. but Axl doesn’t have it. He’s a vocalist and a lyricist but he can’t write songs. You get izzy and slash together again and you’ll hear some old guns come out.

I agree; I don’t hate Chinese Democracy either. I actually think some of the songs on there are pretty good. But one thing: It should NEVER have been released under the GN’R name. As an Axl Rose solo joint, it would have been great. But the GN’R name on it is kind of an insult.

Yeah it was Nothin …I really dig that one…seems kind of like where GNR are at now and that’s not a bad thing…people expecting another Appetite need to wake up from their dream…I actually really like Chinese Democracy quite a bit…but I’m also a big Bucket and Brain fan…I agree though it should never have been called GNR…I believe it would be viewed differently if it had been billed as an Axl solo album…

I liked bumblefoot’s instrumental rendition of Don’t Cry. He used to play it in concert when he was on tour with Axl. He was bad ass.
