The polls show that about the same number of viewers thought Trump lost the debate as did Biden in the debate that killed his run. You have people like Karl Rove writing a column in the Wall Street Journal saying that Trump bombed the debate. I’d cite more but know it’s futile.

Because I’m not pretending. “This exact scenario” did not already happen. There was no support for Hilary, NONE, no enthusiasm, no grass roots campaigns, nobody throwing money (certainly not 300 million in 24 hours) at Hilary, no platoons of people lining up to volunteer for her campaign, and she still won by 6 million votes. I know people that didn’t even cast a presidential vote for either of them, and true to fashion when people don’t vote that’s when the GOP does well. Hell, Biden didn’t really have a whole lot of enthusiasm behind him either but more people voted and he still trounced trump based on a platform of NOT BEING TRUMP.
The only way trump wins (or the GOP wins, really) the elector college is if voter turnout is shit and based on Harris’s momentum I don’t see that happening. You factor in Taylor Swift’s endorsement along with her voter registration numbers, coupled with Trump’s heroic ability demonize voting blocks and piss off voters. Where is his path to victory? It’s like he doesn’t know how voting works. “So, if I can piss off as many demographics as I can and get them to not vote for me, that means I win, right?”
But let me take this back to the original point, Some of the midwest may love trump sure, whatever, but that doesn’t mean he didn’t take a solid ass whooping, because he did and that’s not “the california Bubble.” California didn’t get a different debate we all saw the same one and trump lost.
