I picked up the vinyl for this yesterday. I’m looking forward to giving it a spin and comparing all the demos and alternate takes.
Carpenter Brut - Leather Terror
David Bowie - Absolute Beginners ep
The Jam - All Mod Cons
Gamma Ray - Land Of The Free
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness
Chrome-3rd From the Sun
Cabaret Voltaire-Red Mecca
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds-Kicking Against the Pricks
Negativland
Nick Shoulders
Future Sound of London
All great albums!
I bought Kicking Against The Pricks on vinyl a couple of months ago.
I’ve tried to fight it for years but jazz has a strangle hold on me now.
Bohren & der Club of Gore
Jimmy Smith
among others
Richard & Linda Thompson - Pour Down Like Silver
Metal Church - The Dark
UFO - Phenomenom
That’s probably my favorite of the UFO Schenker albums…but they are all great…
Voivod - Angel Rat
Sabbat - Dreamweaver
Metallica - Metallica
I love Angel Rat…it was produced by Terry Brown who produced all the Rush albums from Fly by Night to Signals …you can hear that influence…so different than anything else they did …
NP:
T Rex- The Slider
The Damned - Machine Gun Etiquette
The only Rush albums I own are A Farewell To Kings, Hemispheres and Signals.
Find them a difficult band to like, but those albums are all decent.
I’ve always found Rush very easy to like…have everything they have done…love everything from the first album up to Grace Under Pressure…then it is spotty after that until Snakes and Arrows…they have always been a polarizing band,I just happen to love what they do…

Goblin-Suspiria score
I have never got the appeal of rush. Geddy lee’s voice is something awful, and his bass lines just sound like regular run of the mill bass lines to me. I think Less claypool smashes Geddy lee for catchy bass lines, hell even the dudes from copshootcop and nomeansno have better basslines. I can’t believe I’m gonna write this but here it goes, the opening bass line to greenday’s long view is better than anythng I’ve heard from rush.
Maybe it’s like faith, either ya have it or you don’t when it comes to rush and I just don’t have it.
I respectfully disagree with every line of your paragraph, grmps…and the Green Day comment is just pure blasphemy…I would rather listen to someone fart in a bucket all day than listen to that shitty fucking band…we probably don’t t agree on much concerning music…well, quite possibly old Ministry😬
2112 baby!!!
I don’t know, sir. Thinking back over the years i don’t remember there being anything from you that i remember thinking “oh lordy no.”
But yeah, regarding rush i just don’t get it. I don’t hear it. I know les claypool adores geddy lee and without rush there is no primus, so I’m thankful for rush for that. But yeah no disrespect rush just ain’t for me.
“Id rather listen to someone fart into a bucket” lol
Well,we had a big dish about Slash vs Buckethead way back but yeah aside from that probably not much…an overstatement in my part… Like I said,Rush are a polarizing band… A love em or hate em type band if there ever was one…
now I’m just struck by how long we have been on this message board …holy fuck where does the time go…?
