What are you listening to right now?

Lycia

. The new Doctor Octagon. Not bad. Too little too late.
. The new Napalm Death comp. 2 discs of blistering grindcore. Love it.
. Meet The Residents
. Heart Of The Congos

I’ve also been listening to a lot of Hole. I dismissed them when they were popular as kind of a stupid macho knee-jerk reaction thing (“duh, she killed Cobain, dude” college idiocy), but coming back to them now, I see her as (musically) kind of a cipher – the quality of her songs is dependent on who actually helped write them.

So I like “Celebrity Skin,” but I think I had to get into and appreciate Fleetwood Mac as much as I do in order to fully enjoy “Skin.”

I love the new Doc OC album…give it time,it gets better…

Been out a while…great record…I saw them on this tour(I see them on every tour)…I wish people knew how great this band is in a live setting…mind melting musicianship…

Enslaved latest record…”E” !!

its like pop and avante garde Black Metal … progressive stuff…is like my favorite thing right now and the northern night vinyl of Dimmu Borgir live…these 2 back to back and oddly enuff that Adema album produced by Jonathon Davis from like 15 yrs ago…believe it was considered nu metal back then but it’s just catchy fun music…don’t care what they call it…

ya wanna laugh, sum friend of my brother…he’s like a steady customer at his Deli gave me sum PapaRoach…and I was like, no way this is gonna suck and goddammit, they’re really fuckin good…again just catchy fun stuff…maybe I’m just getting too old to care anymore… [laugh][laugh][:P]

Willie Nelson - Teatro
Fleetwood Mac
Green Day
Sleep

The new Dead Cross EP (surprise! check bandcamp) is good, but too short/inconsequential to be of much value.

Pailhead

This was a cool project. I wish Al had managed to convince Ian Mckaye to do more like he kept saying he was trying to do.

I never expected to hear a piece of Blackouts in a track made by a japanese noise musician

I recently bought ABIGAIL II by King Diamond and have been really impressed. I thought some of his latter era stuff sounded a bit sterile and by-the-numbers . . . too laboratorial and less organic. Abigail II was about 2002, I think, and it’s really good.

I’ve mostly been listening to KING DIAMOND, ALICE COOPER, DANZIG, and W.A.S.P. lately.

Older Testament releases.

Cabaret Voltaire-The Crackdown
Chrome-Red Exposure
Coil-Horse Rotovator
Hawkwind-Sonic Attack

Today:

Alan Vega - Just a Million Dreams (album’s got a bit of identity crisis, and it’s weird hearing Vega so polished and radio-friendly, but it’s fun stuff)

Blondie - Parallel Lines (probably my favorite Blondie)

Deep Purple - Stormbringer (I’ve actually listened to very little of the Coverdale era, this one wasn’t as good as Burn IMO)

Dødheimsgard - Satanic Art (Finally breaking away from plain old-fashioned black metal but nothing amazingly groundbreaking)

Melt-Banana - Charlie (listening through M-B’s discog and this is my favorite so far)

Accept - Breaker (It’s Accept, not a lot else to say, solid stuff)

Finally got my Buckingham Nicks import in the mail, so that. Green Day. Jay-Z. Willie Nelson, and Slayer. (Gotta beef up before the show this summer. The recent setlists have them playing my favorite Slayer song – “Jihad”!)
