What are you listening to right now?

Yeah, the 4 songs on Lies were all written by Guns…Look at Your Game,Girl was by Manson and did indeed suck…as did the entire Spaghetti Incident album…

You’re right, my bad. Never was a GNR guy anyway.

It’s been a crazy few months, and a crazy few months for music.

New Skuppy’s been on rotation pretty much weekly since it came out. Might be the best cohesive album they’ve ever put out. Picked up the remaster of Godflesh’s Hymns and I’m kicking myself for never having listened to it previous. It’s really, really good.

Been listening to a lot of instrumental hip-hop. Vanilla, Bagul, J Dilla, stuff like that. Buddy of mine turned me on to Madvillain, and they’re pretty tight.

Been listening to a lot of Borghesia lately, and even wound up on the covers album that dropped lately! (Me and my friend’s project is the one that sounds NOTHING like a Borghesia song, lawl.) It’s a REALLY solid compilation.

That’s pretty much been keeping me busy lately, is listening and making goofy music with my friends. Aside from physical therapy, that’s how I’ve been passing the time for the past couple months.

Seeing a lot of new faces here on Prongs. Welcome! We’re a sick bunch, but we’re the best kind of peeps. Glad to see our little community of folks that don’t even like Ministry anymore grow, hahahah.

Have you heard Little People? Instrumental hip hop, but really chill. Like super chill. Almost Portishead-y.

Look at Your Game,Girl was by Manson and did indeed suck…as did the entire Spaghetti Incident album…

What do you expect? It’s a cover album. I do love Since I Don’t Have You, and that version of Hair Of The Dog is pretty rockin. The original Look At Your Game, Girl is much better.

Nah, man, but I’m super down and will check it out. [:)]

Oh shit, just thought of something else you should check out, Xrin Arms. Noise/metal/rap act. Not everybody’s cup of tea, but they also put out a bunch of volumes of beats they came up with, free downloads for people to rap over. Hot shit even if you don’t like their main output. Might take some searching to find online. They put out LOTS of stuff, so they might have taken the beats down to have space for newer stuff. Worth a try. “Feather Crown 2” is the one I downloaded.

I expect nothing…especially from GnR…

[reply][reply][reply]GNR - Lies

Great stuff, One in a Million is one of the best songs ever recorded. Slash’s electric over the acoustic guitars is so gritty and sleazy, i love it.[/reply]

My favorite was/is always I Used To Love Her, ever since I was a little kid[/reply]

Excellent track, most amusing. Anyone who accuses them of misogyny for that (and not any of the other sleazy shit they did) needs to see a shrink.[/reply]
That’s because it was written about his dog not an actual woman.

I agree with one in a million, slash’s electric over the acoustic is just bad ass. Although, I think the real shiner in that EP is the acoustic version of you’re crazy. That shuffle is just addictive. That song is so much more bluesy and refined as a slow jam, bur generic filler when it’s electric and fast on AFD.

Haha, i love Spaghetti Incident, i like a lot of the Gn’R versions better than the originals. Blasphemy maybe, but true.

I like bout 1/2 the song TSI?! the best being ain’t it fun. I have a copy of the original version but slash’s guitar is so clean I prefer his version over the original. Down on the farm is good, since I don’t Have you is a gem, human being and I don’t care about you are great. anything that duff mckagen sings on is garbage so needless to say, I hate attitude and …memory. the manson song is egh whatever. not the strongest song on the cd but no where near the worst.

Getting all emo with my sad self… real good song though. Heavy vibe.

Acid Bath - When The Kite String Pops

One of the best metal albums of the '90s.

Great fucking record…I love the unholy mixture of crusty punk, metal, swampy blues dirge,70s hard rock and just pure venom…and lyrics that aren’t for the squeamish…I love Paegan Terrorist Tactics also, even though it is a different affair…Dax Riggs is a killer vocalist and still puts out lot’s of cool music…Kite String is an underrated masterpiece of 90s metal for sure…still listen to it regularly…

I love the mix of clean and rough vocals, the sudden tempo shifts, and the lyrics that are profoundly disturbing without quite straying into comically explicit Cannibal Corpse territory. It’s a scary fucking record.

That is indeed one of the greatest songs ever recorded. By far my favorite G’n’R track.

I’d heard the controversy over the song before i’d heard the song itself, so i was interested to hear it, this would have been 1990 i think. When i did hear it, it was a surprise what an incredible track it was, i thought it was just going to be some bitter, racist outpouring from what the shitty UK newspapers said about it. Obviously a lot of people don’t understand that some artists sing in character and don’t explicitly mean every word of the lyrics.

Anyway, even if he did, i don’t give a fuck, it’s still an amazing song. I mean, i’ve always been a huge fan of Mel Gibson; do i care that he said that “Jews started all the wars” and called a police officer “sugartits”? No, because it’s ridiculous drunk bullshit, and even if he believes it, it still doesn’t detract from the art he’s made.

Now, would i listen to a band called The Nigger-Jew Faggot-Hating Band? Probably not. I don’t think i could really get behind their message.

Jay, did you ever see my old signature on here? It was a quote from Mel himself telling his ex wife that if she gets raped by a pack of niggers it’d be her fault.

Ha, no, i’m not sure if i did. He certainly has said some horrific shit, but i bet it’s the sort of thing that a lot of people say behind closed doors. Fortunately for them, it doesn’t get recorded and released to the press. Danny Glover coming out and saying that he considered Mel to be a great friend probably didn’t limit the damage as much as he hoped it would…
