This album really bridges the gap between the early darker Industrial era and the more funky stuff afterwards. I always tend to skip that remix of A Daisy Chain 4 Satan and start with The Days Of Swine & Roses. I actually don’t mind that remix of Kooler Than Jesus anymore, and this was the album that got the most love live last year. Most of the albums got a song, or 2, from each, but they played 3 from this one (Daisy Chain, Swine & Roses, and Rivers Of Blood, Years Of Darkness). 4 if you count Kooler Than Jesus (though it was the single version). I have the Ryko reissue, (I’ve misplaced the disc) the original, (cd and vinyl) and the shirt (1 of 6 shirts). I might just track down the TVT print for collector’s purposes. May as well since I have all 3 versions of Sexplosion. That’s Wax Trax (vinyl too), Interscope, and Ryko, all of which have different bonus tracks.
Got really obsessed with Vision Thing about a month back. The Sisters are truly a great band and I wish Andrew would do another album, but doubt it will happen. Well 3 perfect albums is better than a whole bunch of mediocrity.
Right now I am completely in love with the new self titled Junip album. Junip is Jose Golzales’ band and they are amazing. I never hard their first album but always enjoyed Gonzales’ solo work. I think I like this even better. A bit uplifting and melocholy like Nick Drake but without sounding like he’s API Drake like so many others do these days.[/reply]
I just got into them. I wanted to delve deeper into the goth stuff and a friend recommended them. Love them!
EDIT: Funny story actually, when I first saw this video I was a little drunk and thought her shirt said, “Take me home, I’m drunk”. Maybe it was the alcohol or slight dyslexia. Either is possible.
[reply][reply][reply]Uncle Acid is bad-ass.
The new one is a concept album (loosely) about Charles Manson.
Is that Mind Control?[/reply]
Yep.[/reply]
You heard it yet?[/reply]
Yeah - it’s not as catchy as the first one, and the recording is majorly lo-fi, but I like it anyway. Partly due to the subject matter - since it’s not pseudo-satanic anymore it’s farther separated from Sabbath, which I think is good.

Solid offering from Mr. Thrussell. Top tracks are The Corporate Homoerotic Cyclists, Otto Rahn, and Everything Is Under Control. The track Adolph’s Library would’ve been up there if it weren’t for the damned opera singer in the chorus background. The album ends a little too slow, I would’ve thrown Bleak Is My Favorite Chic between the last two tracks.
UTERO ZZZAAA - Beelzebub.
Kinda like a Japanese Atari Teenage Riot. Lots of noise. A sample:
It’s fun so far. A bit repetitive, but that’s kind of a given with this band. He’s definitely been listening to a lot of AC/DC. More fun than strictly dark, which these days I can get behind.
I always loved his interludes but he never seemed to figure out how to transition them into full songs…the track “Theme for the Rat Vendor” is great but quickly fizzles out, leading into another predictable rocker rather than opening up into its own thing.
Nice to hear Ginger Fish and John 5 rocking out together again. Not much in the way of memorable riffs here, but we’ve already discussed that in the John 5 thread.
Either way I’m enjoying this. It’s a solid record.
