Let the Right One In soundtrack.
Brilliant movie, sweet soundtrack.
Sigue Sigue Sputnik’s cover of KMFDM’s “Virus” is my jam lately.
Jean Baudin. 11 string bass madness. Not so much madness, but insane you watch on YouTube. Ended up buying his album. Good stuff.

Supposedly, this is “rake on pavement” music according to grmpy.
Not sure why. You’d have to be rather creative with a rake and some pavement to come up with these sounds.
This one is otherworldly:

That’s right, I said “otherworldly”.
I don’t get it either, Dude. I mean, it’s sort of soothing and pleasant sounding, but I don’t really consider it music or a song of any sort.
It’s something I might even like having on while I was studying or trying to sleep if I needed a bit of subtle background noise (I used to have trouble sleeping if I couldn’t hear freeway noise, trains, or an electric fan).
I enjoy the sound of rushing waterfalls, tugboats in the distance, sea birds, oil pumps . . . does that make anyone that records it and puts it on vinyl a composer? (I’m honestly just wondering as I don’t know the answer).
Does something become “music” just because we like listening to it? I used to enjoy taking naps at my grandfather’s house because the sound of him listening to golf on the old television made me feel relaxed.
Maybe the PGA and Fennesz could do a mash-up or something. I’d buy it.
I understand why people may not like it or be confused by it. It’s challenging and unorthodox. I guess it all boils down to how it interacts with you emotionally.
Personally, I get bored with rock music real quick.
I’m just curious what type of setting are you listening to an album like that in. Are you doing something else at the same time, driving, studying, sleeping . . . all of the above? Or are you actively listening to it as the primary activity, on your stereo or via headphones the same way some people would listen to a symphony, or Pink Floyd, or in my case, an Iron Maiden album.
I used to listen to some pretty weird experimental type stuff and I think I used to look for stuff that would evoke a certain “mood” or atmosphere.
One group that comes to mind was “Premature Ejaculation” which was an experimental/industrial sid project of the late gothy gothmaster Rozz Williams (Christian Death) . . .

I think I listened to stuff like that just as much to scare away anyone near me as I did for any actual enjoyment, though. Been a long time, so it’s kind of hard to remember back.
I’m doing all sorts of things when I’m listening to it. But I usually listen to it late at night in my room with the lights off, lying down…sometimes with “mood lighting”.
You’d be surprised at what else I listen to though: The Smiths, The Doors, The Byrds, Pink Floyd, Roxy Music, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Buckley, R.E.M…
Not just noise…
I knew you listened to “non-noise” music as well. I just didn’t know if you listened to such experimental, avante garde, or whatever it’s called, in a similar fashion or what.
The beginning of this clip cracks me up.

Sounds like you use it for meditation “music.”
I think Gunnar makes a good point. just cause we like listening to it doesn’t make it music. Maybe I’ll give endless summer another spin under dark room, mood lighting situation.

Ha, no it sounds nothing like Excessive Force. It’s probably closer to really early KMFDM, but even that’s not quite accurate.
