Damn.
Sounds interesting?
I listened to Pink Anvils “Halloween Party” album the other day and that was the worst piece of shit i’ve heard for a long time!
At least this group of his actually has songs on the record i suppose?
The Nashville show was great, by the way. The crowd was very light (probably due to it being a Wednesday) but the band was in great form. High energy, great performances. They played the full album and ended with a couple covers (a great version of Butterfly Potion and one I didn’t recognize).
The high points:
Butterfly Potion was great. Hope someone tapes a show or two from this tour.
While chatting with the couple we were sitting by before the show, they turned out to be Joe Funderburk (who engineered the album) and his wife. Great people and quite friendly. It turns out you can actually see him a couple times in their first video.
The Low Points:
It was a Wednesday, so the crowd dwindled out quite a bit by the end of the show.
The sound on the opening bands was pretty roungh. Thankfully it was fixed for USSA.
Turns out I missed a surprise in-store at Grimey’s the night before.
The fact that they’re not playing Nashville again this tour and my hopes of them dragging Chemlab along to finally play a show here are dashed.
Setlist:
Dead Voices
Blue Light
Autumn Flowers
Peculiar Thing
Wasteland
Summer Endless Summer

one of my top 5 foetus songs too!
how good is that, to hear butterfly potion?
finally checked out the album. didn’t buy it, leeched 160kbps mp3s off soulseek. cool shit!!! some parts have “barker” all over them, amazing variety of bass tones and the basslines show that paul can play something more than two or three note grooves like he did in ministry and the sideprojects (well, 95% of the time).
the record sounds nothing like pink anvil (which i thought wasn’t interesting) and yes it has actual songs on it, the atmosphere/mood is great. the only weak thing for me is the vocalist - sometimes i can’t stand his “floaty” voice that always “shivers” when he sings in lower range and his “meeeooow” voice when he goes up higher…
couple of tracks reminded me of “useless”. i don’t know what it is, but something of “paul” is in these songs as several people stated earlier. overall i can’t say i’m gonna listen to it non-stop, and i still want barker’s solo record in the vein of his ministry tracks (useless/vex/corrosion/stolen/grace/fucked) as he said he has solo material… as he also put it “…heavy and ugly music. distortion rules!”.
how good is that, to hear butterfly potion?
It was very impressive. I was told that the backing track, the music, was made entirely by USSA, not Foetus. It sounded very very damned close to the original.
