Top 5 albums from the year you were born?

1981

Kraftwerk-Computer World
Ministry-I’m Falling EP
Devo-New Traditionalists
The Cure-Faith
Depeche Mode-Speak and Spell

Amlux’s list is my favourite so far. But yeah, each one is pretty cool in it’s own right.

What was even more interesting was seeing the age range of the prong’s forum!

And it made me feel old.

To think I was only a teenager when I started listening to Ministry.

Right?
People weren’t even born when Ministry’s classic albums came out. Mind boggling!

I found lots of music I like that’s ‘older’ than my teens thru bands I loved in my teens. Looking up their influences and favorites.

I started listening to the radio as child tho, 6 or 7. I remember early 80’s radio rock well. My neighbor’s were also one of the first nearby to have cable, so I watched lots of early MTV too. No commercials, no tv shows, just videos.

1983

Ministry - With Sympathy
Depeche Mode - Construction Time Again
Killing Joke - Fire Dances
Something from the Cure (probably the singles before The Top. Lovecats, etc.)
Talking Heads - Speaking in Tongues

Just going off the top of my head.

'77 wins it for me. Best albums from David Bowie and Pink Floyd

1958, the year, i believe, al was born. i was probably hearing country music via the radio my immigrant momma had on all the time. music otherwise from that era does not engage me. there are probably some memorable blues and jazz recordings from the time (and comedy!) nina simone? eartha kit? xavier cougat? don’t know.

1958?

They put out a comp titled Japanese Whispers that year which featured Let’s Go To Bed, The Walk, and Lovecats so perhaps that can count. This came out in between Pornography and The Top
