THURSDAY NIGHT! THE 9TH!!

So what happened with this show? anybody go/record it?

Actually… you’re right about it being a bad idea, but it’d be more because of his lack of balls. I stand corrected. [cool]

sweet. If you can though, we need a video… I don’t think we have any live videos of chris’ solo shows… but i may be wrong

There are a few out there. 8/18/92 Detroit, 3/3/95 Dallas, 5/23/95 Wilkes-Barre, 10/5/97 Orlando, 2/15/03 Austin and 2/16/03 Dallas are all in circulation. Nothing terribly recent (and nothing from the 2001 tour when he actually played Nashville that I very much regret having to miss), but good shows all.

And reportedly someone recorded the entire Mind tour from the soundboard. Not sure why they sold Omaha of all shows to a bootleg company, but reportedly the rest still exist. I don’t think it was Atkins, as otherwise you’d probably see them for sale on itunes.

The gentleman who supposedly had the DAT’s to the Mind tour was living in Wisconsin. I knew someone from another msg board who is actually an engineer, and he was told about it in passing from the guy - after I goaded him to investigate, the guy apparently just vanished.

Shit.

Well, I got to go to this show and it was too cool.
My wife and I were only in Chicago for 5 days and we just happened to be there this night. I’ve been a fan through ministry and the cocks since the early 90’s when I was a wee young teenager, then I picked up shipwreck in 94 and have picked up all of his solo albums since then and loved them.

I walked up and said hello after the show just to give a hand shake and a “thanks for all of the great music,” and Chris was really cool. I picked up the new album from him and got the vinyl from Reckless Records as well. It’s very cool - very stripped down. I highly recommend it.

Anyways, this just totally made my trip. He played a bunch of old favourites, including Spoonfed Celeste and shipwreck itself, which was fantastic. Just guitar and vocals.

I guess I could say something in the “revco” pay to meet and greet topic about this, but I won’t bother saying it twice. Autographs are not something I’m interested in, but there have been a couple of artists that I’ve really enjoyed just saying “thanks for the great music” to, Neubauten were one such group, and they were quite cool about it (though Blixa was a diva, the rest of the band were very cool), Chris was another.

Neubauten were one such group, and they were quite cool about it (though Blixa was a diva, the rest of the band were very cool)…

A few of my friends went to the Neubauten show when they toured Melbourne in '91 and said the same thing - that Blixa was a prima donna and would sigh and look aloof and disinterested when he was approached for a chat or an autograph.

But they agreed that the rest of the band were very welcoming.

Ditto The Butthole Surfers.

you know if you actually have conversation with the person for a bit. I don’t know, maybe more then 2 minutes, and then getting an autograph I think is a little more reasonable then just “hi, sign this to ____ , thanks loved the show bye” you know?

did you see anybody taping the show?

ChemMeat, that pic was GOLD [:)]

dumbass, how was blixa a diva?

i feel weird referring to you by that display name… [sly]

Tee hee, that’s the name of my band, don’t worry about it at all.

Blixa was ver much as Peligro described him. He shook hands, looked bored and left very quickly (this was the Perpetuum Mobile tour). However… this is really just part of what Blixa is all about. It actually feels more like it’s an act he puts on than any sort of actual dickishness. In fact everyone who was there (myself included) seemed to find it really funny. I think it’s all part of living out the persona of Blixa Bargeld. He did exactly what was one would expect “the great artist” to do, and it WAS pretty funny.

The rest of Neubauten were really cool. My bandmate and I brought them CDs and Jochen Arbeit searched for a pocket big enough, and when he couldn’t find one, he slid it down the front of his pants, and it appeared to go into the underwear, which was also very funny.

And Ash Wednesday, Neubauten’s touring keyboard player was the coolest cat around. We stood around and talked about synthesizers with him for ever and had a total nerd fest.

I didn’t see anyone taping the show, but I was perched at a seat at the bar (the front was filled up, and I had a good view of the stage from where I was so I stayed there). I thought about taking some pictures with my digital camera but opted for just sitting back with my gin and enjoying the show.

I hope it was taped though, it was a cool set.

And everyone should go and get the new album! The vinyl is really cool. They are limited to 300 and are numbered (I’ve got 132 [or is it 134?]). The album art looks like it’s all put together by hand (the outer sleeve is a sort of folder rather than a sealed together standard jacket, which is really cool. I got it at reckless records, and I assume they sell online as well.

It’s really good.

chris is ever the “host”.

Derpity derp derp

At least when Connelly shit the bed and left forever he actually went away and stuck to his plan.

Wow, what a trip to see this thread again.
It was a nice reminder of a really cool trip to Chicago and a great show. Chris posted about the show like a day or so before we flew out there. It was pure luck that we were able to go. I was and still am a huge fan of Chris’s solo work so it was a pretty special night for me.

Funny that all this weird deleting stuff had at least one pleasant consequence. In general it’s pretty annoying though, bringing up all these old threads.
