There are a few shows where the band is touching every album, just depends on which night you go. They seem to be working off of 3-4 different set lists, with alternate openers and encores. In San Diego, the night before Phoenix, they got the poppy encore (Lovecats, Let’s Go To Bed, Close To Me, Why Can’t I Be You), but also the less poppy songs off of Disintegration, plus The Baby Screams, The Blood, and Shake Dog Shake. I like how they’re mixing it up (nothing new for them, actually). I wonder what kind of nightmare that is for the lighting/video guys each night! Guess they just get the set list like everyone else. At the end of last year, they were playing stuff like Other Voices, Torture, and The Holy Hour.
A couple of songs did suffer from the lack of live synths/piano, namely Lullaby, Inbetween Days, and Just Like Heaven. Lullaby was the worst offender. Robert would try to emulate the pizzicato and lead strings, but some of those string parts continue (on the album version) while he’s singing, but he would stop playing during the vocal parts. The result was a very bare, odd-sounding version of the song. The only other minor complaint was hearing those throwaway ‘Greatest Hits’ tracks, which I didn’t think anyone liked. They made for good bathroom break songs, I suppose.

Apples and oranges man…
A Ministry show, say at their peak, would involve putting alot more energy and effort into playing their FASTER HARDER songs then the cure’s would… No double bass blistering guitar solo’s in any cure songs (I think anyway). So they can pull off a longer show. Slower songs, easier on the body, leaves more energy to spare.
Unlike what a certain band promised, this band is great and DOES PLAY 30 YEARS OF THEIR HISTORY, unlike some. Wish I could see them play, but the travel issue and my job just doesn’t make it possible.
Maybe so…but when the band putting on the 3hr set are about as exciting as a Coronation Street Omnibus on a sunday afternoon it really doesn’t matter.
And on another note: they never promoted their setlist or guaranteed a single thing. They just play everything for the hell of it. That’s fucking class.
I don’t care what kind of band you’re in, 3 hours is a long fucking time on stage. Robert’s closing in on the big 5-0, and can still sing 30+ songs a night, 3-4 nights a week? Not easy.
