Illusion of Power from Black Sabbath’s 1995 album “Forbidden”

Don’t fuck with ICE-T. Body Count rules!

Yeah, Bro! ICE-T and Body Count are both awesome. I remember the first Lollapalooza in 1991 . . . Ice-T was the highlight of the entire festival. And the place friggin’ exploded when he debuted the Body Count stuff there. I went out the very next day and bought “OG: Original Gangsta”. It remains one of my all-time favorite albums.

You went to the first Lollaplooza?!? Did you watch Butthole Surfers?!

I caught about 1/2 of the Butthole Surfers’ set. It really didn’t go over that well. It was like 1pm in the afternoon (I’d just missed Rollins Band) and they were playing at a 20,000 capacity outdoor venue which was about 20% filled at the most.

I really don’t think they’d played anything that big before and weren’t really ready for something other than the cramped stinky club gig scene that they’d ruled up to that point.

I went to the first 3 Lollapaloozas. Line up for #1 (Irvine, CA) was, as I recall . . . .

Rollins Band
Butthole Surfers
Ice T
Nine Inch Nails
Living Colour
Siouxsie and the Banshees
Jane’s Addiction

Rollins I missed completely (aside from overhearing a bit from the parking lot) and Buttholes as above, but other than that I watched every set.

I saw the first one too…one of the concerts for sure.

Ok, how about a re-release of Sunn O)))'s second album with a full remix album done by Nurse With Wound?

Tell me you didn’t just make that up.[/reply]

He didn’t…although the 2x12" vinyl of it is where it’s at…that just came out late last year. I haven’t listened to it but I imagine I’d hate it. I did start a thread about this vinyl release on the Melvins forum whent the vinyl dropped as I knew some folk there were gay for Sunn O & Nurse With Wound and vinyl.

SUNN O))) MEETS NURSE WITH WOUND THE IRON SOUL OF NOTHING 2xLP £ 20.99

CAT NUMBER: SOMA005 RELEASE DATE: 28 Nov '11 ABOUT THIS ITEM

Finally, available now as double vinyl set, this is a must for fans of both of these legendary sonic travellers: Steven Stapleton & Colin Potter twist SUNN O)))’s 2000 album “ØØVOID” inside out on Nurse’s dissection table.

Stephen O’Malley says; “In 2007 we commissioned Nurse With Wound to re-work the masters of SUNN O)))’s second album “ØØVOID” to be included as a bonus CD on the Japanese reissue of said album released a year later on Daymare Recordings. We dug up the original 2” reels from the 2000 session, had Mell Dettmer bake the tapes, made the multi track transfers and send the drive over to IC studios. The initial brief was to hopefully come up with something in the vein of Nurse’s legendary “Soliloquoy” for Lilith set (my favourite release of the collective). What was returned was way beyond our expectations, completely transformed and rediscovered material, including highlighting formerly obscured vocals of the legendary Pete Stahl (Scream, Wool, Goatsnake). A vast creepy sonic journey some part drone / depth of SUNN O))), other part concrete weirdness of Nurse, third part just downright out there in surreality and obscure referencing."

Don’t fuck with ICE-T. Body Count rules!

Yeah Bodycount kicked major ass. The first album anyway…the other stuff they did never reached the heights of tunes such as “There Goes The Neighbourhood” or “Cop Killer”.

Ice-T’s Hip Hop stuff was brilliant too…sometimes I go back and listen to it and am reminded that he used some quality beats & breaks…and lets not forget how he mashed Jello Biafra’s spoken word peice from “No More Cocoons” over the Black Sabbath instrumental to kick off his “Freedom Of Speech” album…he gets mad props simply for that.

Regardless of how great Ice-T was back in the day he was just trying to be Schoolly D…and NO ONE was as cool or as bad-ass as Schoolly…

And one of my fave Ice-T tunes…it’s cheesey but to a teen it’s totally bad-ass!!!

Yeah! “Iceberg”, Baby!

Check out how badass this cover is!

That’s right…I always think it’s called “Freedom Of Speech” for some reason??? The tune “You Played Yourself” is pure class too…that album was actually the first cd I bought…I snagged it in my local video store?

Musical wise we have the Texas Chainsaw Musical. I don’t know whether to laugh hysterical or be intrigued. All because “Repo: The Genetic Rock Opera” was a joke. Regardless, time I get a hold of some friends in Ohio I know and have them share their thoughts…

HAHAHA!!! That’s awesome. Abotu 5 years back there was “Evil Dead: The Musical” making the rounds. I heard nothing but awesomeness about it, though I never saw it myself.

THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD!!!

At The Drive-In are reuniting. That’s kinda cool.

Should be good, since TMV has been circling the drain for the past 4 years.

Van Halen single is out…it was okay.

new PiL! Looks like the lineup circa 1986 but with a new drummer.

Had no idea this was coming, they are dropping a vinyl-only EP and a 12-track album later this year. Just heard the first song they released, called “One Drop” and it’s pretty good.
