skold and al

That’s not what the album credits say.

Mechanical Animals was more along the lines of Zum, Twiggy, and Pogo. Think pogo was responsible for a lot of that sound. Antichrist was Twiggy and the nin guys, with some input from daisy. That’s even what the booklets/credits say.

It’s more complicated than most people realize. Zim Zum wrote a lot of the guitar on ‘Mechanical Animals’, but wasn’t skilled enough to play it. Twiggy played a lot of those guitar parts. And John 5 definitely played on the album as well(the guitar solo on “Fundamentally Loathsome”).

Also Madonna Wayne Gacy aka Pogo did do a lot on that album. Not so much songwriting, but filling out existing songs with great keyboard and programming work. On a side note concerning Pogo, has anyone been following the lawsuit between him and Manson. Apparently old members are coming out of the woodwork to give testimony on this. It looks like it’s going to be quite interesting…

where’d you hear about the old members coming around?

From what I last read about the lawsuit. They had a partnership when they started, yada yada… Manson’s now saying that he dissolved that partnership in 96. Seemed to remind me alot of the whole Jello v. Dead Kennedys thng. Manson’s a douche who treated his band members like shit, so he kinda deserves whatever he gets. Had a few decent albums, but the way he puts himself across - he’s an asshole.

I wish Pogo would have put out a solo album, or joined some other band. I always loved the weird touches he put on songs.

Pogo is putting out a solo album. Probably to help fund this lawsuit.

I normally don’t post this shit around here because of people’s faux elitist attitudes and their constant need to deny that MM has any talent because he “ruined” their stupid little scene.

Meanwhile I listen to anything from Merzbow and Whitehouse to MM and Ministry to the new American Noise scene (Wolf Eyes, Prurient, Hair Police etc.)

I think it’s an age thing. Those who grew up when Ministry were at their “peak” "(another point I would argue) circa ‘Mind…’ and ‘Psalm’ saw Manson as a pretender to the throne.

The same way First Wave Industrial fans probably bemoaned the fact that Ministry Skinny Puppy etc. were commercializing the music by adding formulaic rock song structures and guitar and dance beats.

But meanwhile Genesis P Orridge collaborated with Skinny Puppy and Boyd Rice has interviewed members of Manson as a friend. Ministry and Trent Reznor collaborated and Nivek Ogre has said he likes Manson’s image and music.

So all the waves of “industrial” artists (the first one was the only real one anyway, the rest is rockers and techno people assimilating the experimentation of the first) peacefully co-exist while the fans bicker retardedly and make stupid divisions.

Did you ever read the book England’s Hidden Reverse? It’s a bio of Coil, Current 93, and Nurse With Wound. The author badmouths 2nd gen industrial bands several times, and can’t seem to understand that maybe the guys from Coil might WANT to work with Nine Inch Nails or Ministry.

I think it’s kool how Skold spells his name with a “k” rather than a “c”. That’s a very with it thing to do.

It’s not MM’s image that I’m not fond of, it’s his music. It just doesn’t click with me.

Then again, my favorite record of all time happens to be aptly titled “Cheesy,” so I’m not really one to say much. [cool]
