I like the track. The echo chamber will never get used enough as far as i’m concerned!
Another awesome “Dubwise” track is the song “Everglades” by the Blackouts. That is Al’s finest Lee Perry impersonation on production.
Ryan Moore’s label has some other great stuff on it too, like Michael Rose, Ranking Joe, Turbulence, and many more.
the weather’s great, so I listen to reggae alot more these days.

MaggitTooth/Akbar gets 10 respect points for digging the Blackouts.
surprised I forgot to mention Andrian Sherwood’s remixing of Primal Scream, the album “Echo Dek”
a twisty, deep, heavy claustrophobic electro dub record. Highly recommend it, along with the original Primal Scream record “Vanishing Point” . The song “Stuka” is just such a cool dub track.
Adrian Sherwood rules!
His last album “Becoming A Cliche” was great!!
Yet another Dub legend.
Hey Akbar,
What Burning Spear albums would you recommend?

Burning Spear is the man. First and foremost you want this…

Soul Jazz Records released a comp of his legendary original output…this is a great start too as it’s a decent price…

Then basically just go down from his first release onwards and snag what you can…best just sticking to the 70s stuff as that’s the illest.

But yeah Burning Spear has one of the most incredible voices around and his output in the 70s was probably the deepest most spiritual stuff around. I’m not sure if you’ve seen the classic Jamaican film ROCKERS but there’s a brilliant scene in it when Horsemouth has his bike stolen…he’s upset and goes looking for it throughout the ghetto and bumps into Burning Spear…anyway Burning Spear takes him down to a river and sings Jah No Dead to him…it’s awesome. Check out the scene below…I’m going to dig out Burning Spear!!

Friggin cracker ass crackers trying to do Black music!!!
I bet if negroes did Black Metal it’d be totally BAD-ASS!!!
Great stuff this is.
The Specials
Wait. The Specials are “reggae”?! Admittedly I’m not the biggest fan of it, but I haven’t dug into what’s out there enough to say I really HATE it per se.
But, I love the Specials!

No the Special’s weren’t Reggae. They were the 2nd wave of British Ska which turned up around the late 70s along with Madness and The Selecter. Although all these bands had some great tunes the proper Jamaican 60s Ska crapped all over them.
In saying that though…Selecter had the most bad-ass gangster cover EVER of the James Bond Theme…

Selecter were definately my favs of the British Ska stuff.
negroes

Honestly, the word as well as it’s hateful cousin the N-word have been dragged through enough of the coals in this country…I didn’t flinch because I know he’s Euro-based, and that kind of verbage doesn’t appear to hold as much heavy weight to me. It’s kind of like when Iggy Pop used the term “paki store” a few years ago, he really got an ass fucking for that one…but it was a common term 10-20 years prior!
When the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of COLORED People) and the UNCF (United NEGRO College Fund) change their names people can get pissed off about the usage of either term. Until then it’s pretty silly to get hung up on such semantics.
Also, Akbar is almost as black as me so he can say whatever he wants.
wasn’t trying to be cryptic gents. it was just a genuine response. nothing more. carry on.
It’s okay to call black people names anyway. It’s not like any of them have ever listened to Ministry. They’re not as gullible as the crackers.
