Sidekick Wave (my music project)

Thanks!

And here’s something totally different for anyone interested. An orchestral track based on a JG Ballard short story from a recent comp. Makes me want to do a whole album of soundtrack/score sort of material.

Not bad.

You need to do this with a hurdy gurdy! I’d love to get one though they tend to be a bit pricey.

Since I never live in any place longer than 2 months at a time, my whole studio has to fit into a carry-on luggage (a backpack) so it’ll be awhile before I get any real (non-VST) equipment. Hurdy gurdies are super cool though!

Got a dark ambient/kind of kraut-y CD released on a Japanese label (Sonic Wounds). The first full length album I’ve released in over a year and I’m proud of how it turned out. Very different than the singles, but I always love making this sort of music.

Yeah, I really dig that Cloud Covers track. I really like that it works as both a soundtrack/accompaniment type piece that would lay in back of a film or visual art, but is also evolving and varied enough that it stands on its own and engages the listener. It’s a bit of a journey. Very cool unsettling vibe.

And here’s the latest of the monthly singles (almost crossed the halfway point for the 13 months I plan to do this). It’s a strange one - personally it’s my favorite as I don’t think it really sounds like anything else out there. Be curious what y’all might think and as usual zero stress if you hate it.

(How did you know) This is pretty cool. I think if you were to speed the music up a few bpms youd have something that could easily make the radio. I hardly if ever say this about any indy music but your vocals are good on this track. All the effects really have a cool ugh… effect. Usually im not a fan of indy vocals but this is certainly the best vocal ive heard you do.

Everything i said about how did you know, just opposite that for bridges underfoot. Just kidding but in all seriousness its definitely the lesser track of the two. I wasnt a fan.

Tinder is the night cool music not into the sound of the vocals.

Good job sir miles ahead of any music i could create

Once again, waaaay better than anything I can make.

Wish I could say I dig it. I’m not a fan of your vox. I feel bad for even saying anything. Nobody would want to hear my awful warbling.

How Did You Know, it’s not something I gravitate too, the 94 Dusk Drive isn’t too bad. Just not my bag overall.

Life went upside down for the past couple of months so I released this collab single with the extremely talented SkyYamaha but didn’t get to promote it at all (I was down with COVID in Kuala Lumpur the day it was released). It’s very much late 90s style trance techno, so probably not what y’all are into, but listen if you’d like. I have another out soon too.

So I got really burnt out releasing one single/maxi-single/EP a month for a year and I started teaching yoga again so I killed the Sidekick Wave project. However I started a new project Am I Am I? which will release a lot less music , be more consistent in style and be more of a hobby than a full time thing. The first album was demo’ed out as a Sidekick album but finishing off and polished as the new thing. You can listen if you like and if anyone wants a free download, I’ll post a few here. Always appreciate positive or negative feedback.
