The more I click this thread, it’s bringing tears to my eyes. Something about the thought of a dog dying really bothers me.

EDIT: …more so than a human.

Thanks a lot ,man…yeah he was adopted as a puppy(along with his brother from the same litter-who is deep in mourning right now)…and I have 2 others I found roaming the streets…I’ve buried many animals in my time but never one like Fozzie…he was 130 lbs and 4 1/2 feet by 3 1/2 feet)…it was an undertaking digging the hole…I cried like a baby all the way through it…it never gets any easier…

Please keep an eye on brother puppy. My little girl was depressed for months afterward, she kept looking and calling for him. She became very needy. He was 16 and she was 8 at the time. She is now 12 and an only fur baby. I thought about getting her a friend, but I’m not so sure I should at this point.

I can completely relate to that statement, other than a young human.
I have a really soft spot for kids and animals.

We don’t have kids so it’s always hard to deal with when our kitties pass.

Same here, no human kids. The cats are my kids. You should have seen me. I was a mess.

Yeah,I hear what you are saying Mooney…his brother Gunther is definitely experiencing some separation anxiety…I’m keeping him close and taking him out a lot more to keep him distracted…taking him out to the beach today…it’s amazing how they just “know”…

yeah…one of my cats definitely knew something was up. He was looking and meowing for the other one. Then once we got another one, he was somewhat pissed…hehe.

Pandora was a wreck for about two months, but eventually came out of the depression.

She had gone from her cat mum at 12 weeks to having Apollo as her buddy for eight years. She had never been without another cat in her entire existence and was deeply heartbroken.

I gave her loads of love and attention to try to comfort her (and myself). They would snuggle together on the sofa at night - not allowed in my room while I slept. I had to let her start sleeping in my room with me or she would cry and scratch at the door all night out of loneliness.
