Yeah I just found out about Mikey on fb from my friend in Murder Happens (whose record he recorded some monster riffs for). He’s pretty broke up about it, which really everybody seems to be. He always seemed like a great guy. My condolences.
Hi Deftera, I saw it on Tommy’s FB page, which seems to be private (i tried googling it but no results except for the public fan page) so i feel bad even mentioning it here, and out of respect for him i won’t cut and paste, sorry, but the basic gist of it was that Mike was a very good friend who was basically used and not treated properly by an unnamed employer. It doesn’t take a great deal of imagination to figure out who he referring to, especially if you heard the last Prong album. He was pretty scathing, there is no love lost there.
Actually, i’ve just checked hs page again and i think the post has been deleted. Sorry for being so cagey about this, i probably shouldn’t have mentioned in the first place as it was private for Tommy.
My condolences to anyone who knew Mike, he seemed a great guy and was an absolutely phenomenal player. A very sad loss.
understood. i was wondering if maybe al had got him back into unhealthy lifestyles or something, not hard to imagine from the videos we saw of al for the making of that last album. maybe this’ll be a wake-up call for him anyway.
Mikey was a very unrecognized talent. Easily one of my favorite guitarists, if not my favorite. He seemed like a very peaceful and friendly guy. The kinda guy we need more of. We lost an extremely talented guy and an extremely kind one. 47 is too young.

I make no comment as to whether Al was really good friend to Mikey but that piece was nicely worded
I feel really horrible for Al, no matter what my relationship is or is not with Jourgenson, I know that he really loved Mike, always did, they were best friends and that’s that, I hate to hear of anyone in this kind of pain, and, yes, Mikey was an incredible guitarist, and was hugely influencial on ministry’s sound, and the sound of the zillions of bands that were influenced by it.
Oh, jam. I saw this on Feisbuk and had to confirm it here. Damn shame.

What sad and shocking news. He was taken from us way too soon.
As hurt as I am as a fan, I can only imagine the pain his family is going through.
And to die that suddenly…shit. There’s no good way to die, but at least in other cases you’d have time to make peace with it and get affairs in order.

How soon did it happen? Was it the beginning, middle or end of the show? I’m just wondering because usually a heart attack doesn’t just hit, there are presenting signs. I could see him feeling bad and it being the end of the show and him thinking “I’ll just finish this up and then rest.” but if this was the beginning of the show why didn’t he say anything to anyone?
This sucks, it didn’t have to happen.
