My verdict - This is the Ozzy equivalent of “The Devil You Know” - not a bad record, better than most of these guys’ solo stuff from the last decade or so, and certainly not an embarrassment, but not a classic either.
Sometimes it’s tries a little TOO hard to hit all the famous Sabbath tropes - lots of religious themes, a drug song, a spooky non-riff based track - which makes it sound a bit self conscious. The players all sound good though, even Ozzy. Wilk isn’t quite like Bill Ward (who I think just didn’t want to do it and used a contract dispute as an excuse), but he’s closer in spirit than Vinny Appice.
Overall, it’s a “B”. If you REALLY want to be reminded of the first couple of Sabbath records, check out Uncle Acid.
Yeah, same here…obviously with the industry being the way it is they have really scaled back on their cd inventory…it was smooshed all the way in the back in a little corner of the store…
Yeah, it’s lame. There used to be like 10 giant rows and there would be Rock/Pop, Country, Soundtracks, International, R&B/Rap. Now I think there’s like one two-sided HALF row labeled “Music”.

It’s a lot better than what I thought it was going to be, but it still feels a bit hollow. Maybe that’s down to the lyrics, which sound like Ozzy had a hand in writing them.
[reply][reply]Beautiful set.
Can’t wait to swing by Best Buy after work and pick up the CD with the fourth bonus track.
Gaaaah, damn you Best Buy customers with your extra Naivete In Black song, damn you!!![:)][/reply]
I just left Best Buy after getting the cd…man, those places really suck…[/reply]
I just picked it up at Best Buy too. It completely depressed me. I know I’ve complained about their shrinking DVD and CD section in the past, but it is now down to one rack of CD’s and one rack of DVD’s. I used to love spending an hour or two in there, going through all the movies and discs, collecting a big pile and then deciding on a couple things that made the cut. Not now. Unless I specifically want a new release blockbuster CD (I did) or a box set of Game of Thrones (I don’t) I will never again find something of use to me and scanning through the sections is completely devoid of joy to me now.
It’s like going through all the cassette tapes sold at the Car Wash . . . Ooohhh!!! Kenny Loggins! Hellz, yeah!!!
