Got the deluxe version today:
Listening to the 2nd cd now.
-
Meth: cool classic guitar intro then it goes in and sounds like a ozzy song from No Rest for the Wicked. Good song (fast paced) but not very sabbath like.
-
POM: Straight up song. Should of have been on the CD.
-
Parish: This ones sounds like a cross between bark of the moon/NRFTW and something off of Destruction of the Void. Fast and heavy with dark lyrics…another good tune.
All and all, great 2CD.
REVCO: Nice set, Bro! Can you give us the low down on what all it included?
Double vinyl (8 songs)…with lyrics
12 photos with a story behind each one…pro style
2cds
DVD—25 mins…studio and some live clips.
Black box holder
Pretty cool…I’ll listen to the vinyl tomorrow. [tongue]
Ah wow, that’s a great set, fantastic. I’ve only heard Methademic out of the 3 non-album tracks, i liked it, reminded me a bit of Ozzy solo stuff too. Hopefully my deluxe cd arrives today, should have been here over the weekend.
Beautiful set.
Can’t wait to swing by Best Buy after work and pick up the CD with the fourth bonus track.
Nice!
But I must say I’ll be sitting this one out. Don’t like it much.

I just left Best Buy after getting the cd…man, those places really suck…
They do seem to get great exclusives pretty often, we don’t really have anywhere on the same scale in Ireland. Any time i’ve been to America i’ve bought shitloads of dvds and CDs from the likes of Best Buy because they’re cheap and had a good selection
I rarely go in there anymore unless I need an exclusive CD. I think the last one I got was a Rob Zombie remix album with extra tracks.

Yeah, same here…obviously with the industry being the way it is they have really scaled back on their cd inventory…it was smooshed all the way in the back in a little corner of the store…they had a few of the Sab cd’s with a t-shirt also…I just got the exclusive version w the extra cuts and the holographic cover…
Gonna crack open some beers and check it out tonight before the Heat game,…
My verdict - This is the Ozzy equivalent of “The Devil You Know” - not a bad record, better than most of these guys’ solo stuff from the last decade or so, and certainly not an embarrassment, but not a classic either.
Sometimes it’s tries a little TOO hard to hit all the famous Sabbath tropes - lots of religious themes, a drug song, a spooky non-riff based track - which makes it sound a bit self conscious. The players all sound good though, even Ozzy. Wilk isn’t quite like Bill Ward (who I think just didn’t want to do it and used a contract dispute as an excuse), but he’s closer in spirit than Vinny Appice.
Overall, it’s a “B”. If you REALLY want to be reminded of the first couple of Sabbath records, check out Uncle Acid.

Yeah, it’s lame. There used to be like 10 giant rows and there would be Rock/Pop, Country, Soundtracks, International, R&B/Rap. Now I think there’s like one two-sided HALF row labeled “Music”.
If you REALLY want to be reminded of the first couple of Sabbath records, check out Uncle Acid.
Or even better:

ozzy sound like shit through all the live 2013 shows i’ve heard.time to give it up boys.
MASTER OF REALITY was and always will be there best.
r.i.p.
For those who purchased the Best Buy version with the lenticular cover, a word of warning - do not leave it in a hot car. That fucker’ll warp.
It’s a lot better than what I thought it was going to be, but it still feels a bit hollow. Maybe that’s down to the lyrics, which sound like Ozzy had a hand in writing them.
Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats are boring.

I just picked it up at Best Buy too. It completely depressed me. I know I’ve complained about their shrinking DVD and CD section in the past, but it is now down to one rack of CD’s and one rack of DVD’s. I used to love spending an hour or two in there, going through all the movies and discs, collecting a big pile and then deciding on a couple things that made the cut. Not now. Unless I specifically want a new release blockbuster CD (I did) or a box set of Game of Thrones (I don’t) I will never again find something of use to me and scanning through the sections is completely devoid of joy to me now.
It’s like going through all the cassette tapes sold at the Car Wash . . . Ooohhh!!! Kenny Loggins! Hellz, yeah!!!
