I like the album, but it suffers from serious inconsistency. First off, the title track is rendered obsolete once anyone hears the live recording of the same (found on “A Real Live One” or numerous compilations since.) But aside from that, there’s some really strong and complex pieces that are true “listener’s delights” – “Afraid to Shoot Strangers” and “Childhood’s End”, for example. And then you have crap like “Weekend Warrior”. What the fudge?
“No Prayer for the Dying” suffers the same fate as this album, I believe. I think if they retooled both of these albums and just pulled the cream of the crop they could have had a real beast of a release that would have left Maiden at a real high note around the time of Bruce’s hiatus. Bringing in Blayze at such a time was just something akin to nails in a coffin.
Anyone who doesn’t see what an amazing feat Maiden’s career resurrection was doesn’t fully understand the rollercoaster that came before it.
Anyway, enough of my metal nerd babble . . . let me just say that the shirt is badass, but cutting off the sleeves and then pairing it with a scarf is, in my world, completely retarded. I’m just sayin’ . . .

I don’t know where you live but I’m in Southern California. The scarf thing has been a pet peeve of mine for maybe 10 years now. It RARELY gets below 70 degrees down here (maybe a few days in the winter) and yet there’s douchebags walking around in 90 degree weather, thinking they look cool donning such neckwear as if they’re Frosty the friggin’ Snowman or something.
