Philip Seymour Hoffman rip

[reply]Says he who urinates on groupies.

yeah that shit is dope you should try it[/reply]

notice I said “dope” HAHAHAHAHAAHAA

Well, yeah, I mean, sure it sucks that he died, but don’t you all realize that every 10 minutes there’s like a billion Africans that die of starvation like literally every second every day? Do you?

Approx. 30,000 African children die every day. Or 1250 an hour. That’s the first thing I thought of when I heard that Kurt Cobain had topped himself.

I thought: Kurt Cobain is dead? Oh those poor starving African children!!

Checked out his resume, haven’t seen any of his work.

Found this eerie: On Friday, January 31, 2014, Media Mass, a website best known for death hoaxes, posted a story that actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was dead. Hoffman died on February 2, 2014.

The judgmental no sympathy thing…really guys…???

I heard he had kids, so I feel bad for them I guess. But seriously, why should we feel massive sympathy for him? It’s not like he died in a tragic heroin accident. He died because heroin did one of the two things it’s well known for doing. Should I feel bad for him because he was an addict? That seems kind of dumb; I’m not addicted to heroin, because I once made the casual decision (like many others) to not do heroin. You know, because it fucking kills people.
Sorry dude, I guess I just can’t get into the mindset of “I know this is bad, but it’s probably worth the risk. Wheee!”

I don’t think it’s necessary to have massive sympathy for him but the whole " fuck him,he was a loser junkie" thing is fucking lame and seems to be a go-to thing on the internet when someone dies in such a manner…the dude had a problem and he was trying to get help for it…obviously he failed and it cost him his life…nobody knows the specifics of what led him to that place and to reduce him to just a stupid junkie to me is narrow minded and simple…ok,so maybe it’s no loss to random internet guy but I’m sure it is to his wife, kids and friends…

By the way, that wasn’t directed at anyone on the board specifically…just commenting on something I’m seeing more and more of…insensitive zero tolerance shit…I guess I just don’t have that type of ice running through my blood…and when I said he was trying to get help I meant his past rehab attempts…

At least he went out feeling good. how many of us will go out screaming and terrified?

I’m always a little bewildered at people that click on a thread which is clearly labeled so as to note that it is about someone’s death . . . . and then proceed to write a page about how they don’t have any sympathy for the dude and don’t care that he’s dead. Seems like a lot of work to express a LACK of sympathy.

I guess it’s kind of like driving to the cemetery to take flowers OFF of someone’s grave.

I’ve noticed this a lot in the last couple of days, people commenting on the news stories who just can’t wait to say how he deserved to die because he took heroin, how he doesn’t deserve sympathy and so on. People revel in it. They just cannot wait to show the world how callous they are and feel so superior because, wow, they never took any heroin themselves and therefore they are better than someone who was a well known actor.

It must feel so great to be, in their minds, better than someone who obviously had major problems, secure in the knowledge that they are perfect. I think there’d have to be something seriously wrong in a person’s life for them to take heroin, it’s a very stupid thing to do, but i’m not going to gloat about how i’m alive and Hoffman’s dead because he did something stupid that i would never do. I don’t assume it makes me better than he was because i made a more sensible decision. Nobody knows the circumstances of his life, what drove him to it, or what could possibly drive them to do something they never thought they’d do themselves.

People are so incredibly smug and callous, it sickens me. I sincerely hope none of those people ever find out what it’s like to have problems where they feel the need to numb themselves like that. Of course that will never happen, because they’re perfect paragons of virtue and live lives that are so much better than everyone else.

Between reading the asshole comments on news stories about Hoffman and reading the dumbass racist hillbilly anti-foreigner garbage responses to that Coca Cola Superbowl ad, i think the past 24 hours have really shown that a very large number of the people on the internet are just hateful, self-centred scum who live to spread their negativity. So depressing.

It’s not like he died in a tragic heroin accident.

Yeah. Like, if he was standing on a stool in the kitchen, trying to get his heroin out of the cookie jar on top of the kitchen cupboard and the stool slipped over and he fell and cracked his head. I’d feel sorry for him then.

Should I feel bad for him because he was an addict?

No, but you should feel sorry for him for being killed by Matt Damon on screen in that Mr Ripley film. Anyone foolish enough to be killed by the conniving likes of Matt Damon deserves sympathy in my book.

Also, he was fat.

It also must be noted that I had incredible admiration for the man as an artist and the “fat” comment was in no way meant to be mean or hateful. It’s just…he was fat.

Perhaps he had issues or self loathing because of his weight? Guess we’ll never know.

When I lived in Houston, a bad batch was sold and about a dozen people ended up dead within a few block radius. We don’t know if he actually OD’ed or got a bad batch from his dealer/it was laced/cut with something it shouldn’t have been. BTW, There are loads of ‘functioning addicts’ out there that we would never guess would be hitting the hard stuff. They hide it very well from others.

apparently he was mixing two different types of heroin that are lethal if combined… or so I heard from one of those tabloid shows, before I changed the channel.

HAHAHAHAHA beautiful!

I don’t think for many it’s smug callousness but more of a reaction to finding out that the people who are constantly held up for us as the picture of perfection could be so far from perfect. It’s probably contempt for not being perfect as the machine keeps reminding us that they are. It’s not the person’s fault but the standard that has been presented and accepted. So when this happens some people are naturally pissed at the fraud that has been perpetrated.
Long rambling pseudo intellectual garble made short… It’s misplaced anger.

Yup, misplaced anger. I’m still pissed off at my buddy that OD’d a few years back. It’s a dumb fucking thing to try. It seems like there are a lot of different ways to get yourself fucked up, so if you really feel the need, then you’ve got options. Why pick the one that is so consistently lethal?

Sorry if this seems callous; I get that there’s probably an annoying backlash that you’re sick of, and I’m contributing to it. On the other side of it though, I feel like there’s an annoying idolization of “those who went to soon.” Heroin chic is bullshit.

I hardly feel like I’m kicking the flowers off his grave. If his friends or family happen to lurk on the message board of a Ministry fanpage, then I absolutely apologize for using him to air my baggage in an inappropriate venue.

Picking up your sarcasm loud and clear. but I think it’s different when it’s someone you know personally. When it’s someone you know it’s totally personal because the person has basically specifically snubbed you. we’re not friends with famous people so when they keel over from self induced harm what skin do we have in the game other than the image of perfection that we’ve been sold? We’re mad at somebody we don’t even know based on something that someone else has told us about them.

No sarcasm. I figured it might get read that way (I should have worded that differently), but I meant it honestly.
