Not quite sure why this old thread has popped up again, but I’m intrigued by the Pigface bootleg from Portsmouth due to that being my home town. Classic Martin anyway - the show is available to buy for £8 on Amazon. Hmm. Can’t believe it’s worth it. I saw Damage Manual here in 2000 and hardly anyone bothered turning up for that, and the band seemed thoroughly miserable. I love this town!
ChipRock, you may be able to confirm something for me then, since you saw a U.K. Damage Manual gig.
Was Jah Wobble the bassist for that? Martin Atkins claims, in his book and elsewhere, that Jah had some “visa problems” that prevented him from getting into the U.S. in time for the shows there. The alternate version I heard, though, was that Wobble caught wind of Atkins’ mistreatment of Meg Lee Chin and other Invisible signees, and simply quit the band in disgust.
So, if he was still being replaced by Charles Levi in his native country, that might lend a little credence to that other theory.
That one’s actually Pigface playing a Hyperhead song. There was a Hyperhead tour in 1992 or so, but somehow none of those shows have popped up on itunes, etc. Sort of surprising, being that there are close to a hundred Pigface shows up for sale as well as live shows and demos from several other artists who aren’t even related to Invisible anymore.
I really like Hyperhead…I have all the cd singles & the one cd. I would love to hear them live!
I saw Damage Manual play the LA2 in london on that tour & Wobble was there, he played the entire gig sat on a floral sofa. Unlike the portsmouth show this one was packed & sold out, would love to aquire a boot from this tour.
Wobble was definitely there for the Portsmouth show - as per the London show, lounging on a sofa. I wish I could remember more about it, but I seem to remember Chris making some negative comments towards the crowd as soon as they came on stage. I wonder if they were expecting more than just a handful of the local goths.
