Hey guys, I hope everything’s alright with you and your families.
Things have been rough, Christmas family reunions are very important here and people forgot the rules, as consequence lots of new cases and lots of deaths, but we’re in an heavy lockdown now and last days results have been promising. Fortunately for me, no family or close friends have been infected. I work mostly from home these days, my wife the same (a few years ago she had cancer so no way she was going to take a chance), so we left the city while this lasts and moved to a country house that belonged to my wife’s grandparents. And it has been great! I was really freaking out inside an apartment, here is easy to go outside, we are growing some vegetables, adopted a cat… It’s going to be difficult to return to the city.
It will take some time before I get the vaccine; first are the elderly. I still have two grandparents, one with almost 96 years old, I just hope they and my parents get vaccinated soon, that would be a relief.
It’s incredible this new mRNA tech, and I will have no problems with the vaccine, just will have to trust it and from the information I gathered it’s perfectly safe. Fortunately no problems with needles or blood, actually I like to watch the blood get drawn eheh.

Glad you and yours are staying safe and hoping your grandparents get vaccinated soon so there’s less worry. My mother got the vaccine. There has been a lot of spread in her facility, though, and I’ve lost a few friends (other residents that I befriended accordingly) because of it.
It’s not quite the home stretch, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Be safe, Miguel, and best of luck to you and yours!

@acid_cripple So I wasn’t quite as specific as I was in the other post but I did announce I was getting it on Feb 19 in this thread.
I like when this thread bumps each time. It’s really cool to see how we processed and reacted to the events as they unfolded and then adjusted later as shit changed accordingly. While some dimwits just erase all their shit out of shame, for the most part Prongers are some pretty straight shooters so it’s fun to discuss shit like this and honestly learn from stuff and correct ourselves if and as needed.
The last year has really made me even more skeptical and critical of a lot of different institutions. I’d say my biggest beef is with the media who hasn’t made even the slightest effort at INFORMING or EDUCATING people on anything and instead just draws a so-called political line through everything and paints the RIGHTEOUS AND BLAMLESS US versus the EVIL IGNORANT THEM picture for literally everything. It’s both sides and it’s pretty much universal. Wanna see the EXACT opposite of what you are watching on CNN or FOX . . . . just flip to the other channel.
I’ve sought out some interesting alternative journalism/news sources to try and stay a little bit informed, but the so-called mainstream media no longer is interested in giving you facts and telling you information about what is going on. They only want to TELL you how how you are supposed to FEEL about whatever cherry picked bullshit they’re serving up. I’m not a fucking android. I can create my own opinions and feelings about stuff and don’t need Don Lemon or Sean Hannity beating me up over any of it.

I think this may be a little hyperbolic but only just barely. I see what you’re saying and I don’t necessarily disagree, but I think we the public have allowed this to happen. The media used to serve a definite function. They were fact checkers and policy shapers and they are no longer that and we as a public have let this happen. Currently, as soon as some journalist tries to fact check some nonsense from some politician here comes the accusations of partisan hackery and sometimes that is the case but for most legit news organizations it’s NOT the case but they get lumped in.
Politicians want the media to be a megaphone and ONLY a megaphone and that’s not what the media is supposed to be but they’ve been pretty successful at bullying them into being just that.
I take serious issue with this. It’s NOT both sides. And I’m so sick of hearing “both sides, both sides, both sides” whenever somebody tries to negate or downplay the shit that republicans are doing. I point out that neo nazi’s and white supremacists are a major voting block for the right and some jack ass comes along and says “Well, the left has crazy Antifa so ‘both sides.’” Except it’s not. Antifa doesn’t hold the history, the power or murder rate that White supremacists do. So, it’s not both sides.
The right has insurrectionists breaking into the capital, calling openly for the murder of politicians they don’t like. Jesus, even NWA never had the balls to do that. The best they got was Fuck the Police where they talked about beating up corrupt cops. but you have these morons come along and say “well BLM protests,” but it’s not the same thing because they’re NOT calling for the murder of specific politicians. They’re protesting for the killing to stop, NOT kill more people. They’re not carrying rebel flags, they’re not chanting “jews will not replace us” and they’re not smearing actual shit on the walls of congress.
The BOTH sides shit is just that, SHIT. It’s meant to down play the sins of the republican party. It’s meant to draw a false equivalency between the truly wretched and the enemies of the truly wretched. “Well, I guess if both sides do it I shouldn’t complain.” Both Sides don’t fucking do it! 
That’s a right wing rallying cry meant dismiss the shit that they do. Dems steal 0.25$ and repubs steal 4 billion and then a repub will say, “well both sides steal so it’s the same.” It’s not the fucking same.
Repubs pretend there is voter fraud and draw up a shit ton of laws meant to surpress the vote, but then will tell you “both sides are corrupt.” Get the fuck fuck outta here with that shit. It’s not both sides It’s never been both sides. The right is notorious for trying to defund public education, but I just had a fellow teacher try to tell me that "Dems want to defund it as well (She’s a notorious “both sides"er) and push that agenda.” I dared her to find me one Democrat calling for the defunding of public education. She couldn’t do it, but she’s sure it’s there because “both sides.” That’s her fucking rallying cry.
Those “news organizations” are the same fucking things. Both those corporations are the same fucking thing. It’s not a “Both sides” issue with them either. They belong to the same side. Money and outrage. Fox peddles outrage. CNN peddles outrage. how is that a “different side?” Fox is all about the advertising dollar. CNN is all about the advertising dollar. How is that a different side? These two “news stations” could flip their content and nobody would tell the difference. It’s not what they’re reporting it’s how they’re reporting it and what they’re selling. I seriously do not see Fox and CNN as competitors at all I see them as the same side of the same coin.
It’s like saying “Both Colas are bad for you.” Coke and Pepsi are the same thing. Trying to distinguish between pepsi cola and Coca cola is stupid because when it comes down to it they’re both cola, it’s the same fuckin thing. Why not just say Cola is bad for you? cause it’s the same thing. Same with Fox and CNN… Republicans and democrats are by products, if they could sell you outrage over carpets and drapes they would.
Democrats and republicans are certainly different and they are not equal but that doesn’t matter to Fox and CNN because it’s the outrage they’re selling; Democrats and republicans are incidental conveniences to their product/bottom line. The fact that we equate Republicans to Fox and Dems to CNN is stupid (and I’m guilty of getting caught up in it too, obviously) is ridiculous. because it just comes down to outrage. “Who do you want to be mad at today.” Pick one, because it’s the same thing.
You’re right to a degree on this, as well, but I don’t agree totally. CNN still gives you facts and info that is relevant to what’s going on (At least andrew cuomo- he’s about the only one I can stomach on that channel - I guess I’m ok with his brand of outrage), but they do spend a tremendous amount of time telling you how to feel about that info (usually outrage) which is ridiculous. The viewer doesn’t need a 5 minute diatribe on the 30 seconds of facts and info they just reported. Fox Essentially does the same but you’re less likely to get the facts and info. That’s where the cherry picked bullshit usually comes in and Fox gets in trouble time and time again for that. But it doesn’t really matter, because, again, just like CNN it’s the outrage they’re selling. NOT BOTH SIDES, same side.
And, I do have to say, I give CNN credit as being the closest to actual news that we have when it comes to cable “news” because MSNBC is as unwatchable as Fox. They sell the exact outrage that Fox sells. If you were to compare these networks to drugs Fox would be Zoloft and MSNBC would be the generic sertraline. Same thing. It’s like a mad libs script and people are arguing over who filled it out right… They’re both right because you can fill in the blanks with whatever you want.
That’s because you’re thoughtful and you do have opinions. You know how many people let these organizations “think” for them? I remember an older dude who I used to work with about 20 years ago who would not take a stance on anything until Rush Limbaugh would address it, and then, as you can guess, he would adopt whatever Rush said. And he didn’t hide that. It wasn’t a secret, he would tell you straight out, “Rush hasn’t covered it yet so I don’t have an opinion.”
I think the single biggest disservice the repubs have done for the country is discredit the media. and they did it because they couldn’t control it. “Well if I can’t have it I’ll just destroy it.” and it’s worked because how many people now discredit the media? Nearly everyone, but where do they get these opinions? from the media, of course. Where did “fake news” come from? From News channels. It’s ridiculous.
