New Radiohead Album - But Does Anyone Care?

Radiohead is music for people with no friends who want to hang out with other people with no friends and pretend that they are too cool for friends when in fact they are lonely losers shunned by society because of their bad fashion sense and awkward social skills.

people with no friends who want to hang out with other people with no friends and pretend that they are too cool for friends when in fact they are lonely losers shunned by society because of their bad fashion sense and awkward social skills…

…and who then in turn run down and beat up Cradle Of Filth fans.

And btw, if you have so many friends and are socially confident enough to laugh at the awkwardness of Radiohead fans, then what the hell are you doing hanging around here all the time with the rest of us friendless losers?

I’m trying to inspire others to reach my level of awesomeness. Impossible, yes, but one can dare to dream.

Been living with the new Radiohead on my iPod now for the past two and a half days.

The verdict is still out, but I can’t help but feel vastly underwhelmed by this. Likable but doesn’t feel like a full album. More like a taster of a bigger and better album to come. In fact, it almost feels like a ‘Pt.2’ of a larger project. As in, all of the really good songs were included in Pt.1 and these are the songs deemed to be not as good as Pt.1 but still deemed good enough to release.

If that makes sense.

Of my friends who like Radiohead they’re all friendly and each have lots of friends.

Radiohead are not very overrated in my opinion (is as much as you can expect from ratings of popular bands).

OK Computer and Kid A are excellent albums.

The new album can grow on you, but it’s no great shake.

And it does indeed sound like a cross between Amnesiac and The Eraser (though I like The Eraser more than Amnesiac and the King of Limbs)

I can’t help but feel a “jock” element to severe denouncement of a band that are pretty decent overall.

It’ll sound better when Erie remixxxes it.

After reading the link I looked to see what else he had written about, and here is his take on Tool.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!

This guy rules and nails it on the head. The best thing about it all is the fans getting their nickers in a twist about it and throwing mad hissy fits. The good Dr is my current hero of the moment and your band truly does suck.

Radiohead suck…Tool suck…and it’s a pleasure to hear someone break it down on why they suck and see all the fans go nuts…the emperor doesn’t like being told they’ve got no clothes on. hahahaha

Animal Collective are boring as all hell and should pay royalties to Beach Boys. Strawberry Jam was their best. Sung Tongs was good too…Merriweather was interesting on first listen…2nd listen it was getting old…3rd listen it was stale as all hell and I haven’t bothered listening to any of their stuff ever since. Panda Bear’s Person Pitch is brilliant and it puzzles me why he still remains a member of AC??? I’m sure his next album won’t reach the heights of Person Pitch…if it does it’ll be a fine record.

While I’m not a fan of radiohead his silly little diatribe just makes me want to buy an album or two

Hahahahaha…the LEAST you can do is buy an album or two of Radiohead’s seeing as you buy all the latest Ministry remixxxxx albums Smurf.

And come on Smurf…you’re the king of silly little diatribes so surely you should be studying the Dr’s awesome analysis intently?

I think it’s good for the population to be reminded that what they like actually sucks. It keeps them on their toes…catfish style.

I tried listening to Radiohead once but it turned me into a homo so I stopped.

Ever since I got into Cradle of Filth and HIM I’ve noticed hot chicks all want to hang out with me and buy me skinny pants and cheeseburgers. I can’t imagine giving up this fabulous lifestyle for the sake of a band that doesn’t even have good hair.

I’m a vested collector in ministry, I can’t help it at this point! I own the bends by radiohead and the only song I know on it is fake plastic trees I’ve listened to paula abdul’s spellbound more times than I’ve listened to the bends by a considerable number of spins I might add. Its just boring.

My diatribes are anything but silly they are poinent reviews that make the correct assumptions based on the state of affairs as I percieve them as well as events reported to me by various sources.

Fair enough if that’s your honest opinion…but surely the same thing applies to the good Dr’s analysis of Radiohead, Tool and all the other bands that suck in his opinion?

Lol, I was kidding dude! I know my posts often times go long winded especially if its something I’m passionate about, but I’d like to think my posts at least have merit. His diatribes seem like they are long winded for the sake of being long winded as well as mean. I will admit he has some sort of wit. He certainly has charm but I’m sure its wearing thin. He is what olsen and a few others accuse me of being.

Olsen and a few others accuse you of being 100% correct and awesome?

The Dr produces some of the Radiohead fan emails in his Coldplay Sucks blog…

http://www.somethingawful.com/d/your-band-sucks/coldplay-sucks.php

A ''Coldplay Sucks" discussion?

Now that’s something I can get behind!!!

The Coldplay sucks blog isn’t as good as the Radiohead or Tool ones, although it did bring about the name of the good Dr’s fave band… Egyptian Head…I looked for tunes on youtube then headed over to discogs but still couldn’t find anything on this band???

“Next to abusive Radiohead apologists, the second most frequent e-mails I received were those requesting that I reveal my favorite band. Well, I told you that you’d never heard of them, but I’ll tell you anyway. My favorite band is Egyptian Head, who cut four LPs on Argyle Records between 1979 and 1985. I strongly encourage the philistines who read this column to stay far, far away from that band, because they could never hope to understand them. Go find their third record, Pure Sophistication, at a used record store. And don’t come whining to me for mp3s, because you’re not getting them.”

Edit : I just found this…

SJP:
I hadn’t heard of DragonStomper either before the article, and just the fact that he mentions it, almost deliberately looking for an obscure game just to be a snob, reminds me of an old Something Awful article that David Thorpe wrote, claiming that no one had heard of his favorite band, called Egyptian Head, and he recommended their third album “Pure Sophistication.” Obviously, the band is fake, but sounds real enough that people might just think it exists somewhere, and that only “real music lovers” would know about it and appreciate it. It’s the same sort of mentality…“you obviously aren’t as awesome as I am because I listen to/play something terribly obscure that your pea-brained, non-Ivy League education couldn’t hope to comprehend, what with your 7-11 Halo Edition Slurpees and your Tekken-brand monocles. This is MY piece of nostalgia, and you’d NEVER understand it like I do.”

But then, we all have our weird, obscure loves, I guess. I love the game Azrael’s Tear and the movie Rock & Rule, but I don’t go insulting every game or movie made before or since then. I only insult the ones that deserve it. ;D

Pyramid Head is most likely a reference to one of the enemies in the Silent Hill series. It’s too easy.

DragonStomper is a great name for a band. I don’t even need to hear them to know they’re awesome.
