OK, so I went to the Body Count gig at the Gramercy the other night. First of all, I didn’t think you could find four fans of Body Count in NYC to fill a cab, let alone the Gramercy, but it was sold out. I expected half of the crowd to bolt after Madball (the opener), but nope! The band was tight and Ice-T was incredibly entertaining. At one point, he stopped the show to have a conversation with someone who kept yelling “Leprechaun!” at him (for those who don’t know, Ice was in “Leprechaun N The Hood”). They played a few new tracks, most of the first album (including “Cop Killer”), and that “Disorder” cover Ice-T did with Slayer on the “Judgment Night” soundtrack. Over all, one of the best shows I’ve been to. Who’da thunk it?

Picked this album up yesterday. Pretty decent. They do an updated version of “Institutionalized” by Suicidal Tendencies that’s pretty funny. Overall, I’d say the lyrics were rather juvenile, but they kind of always were with this band.

I’ve listened to about 4 tracks (on YouTube) so far and I’m really diggin’ it.
Despite being a zillionaire actor married to a plastic bimbo freak wife and living what seems to be a life light years away from anything resembling “real” he manages to still make an album that sounds “legit” and “true”. There’s a real NY hardcore sound to it. The lyrics . . . yeah, they’re a bit silly at times, but it’s fine. The riffs are good, the beats are hard, and it all sounds properly pissed off.
I might actually buy this one . . .
