Ministry’s cameo in AI was the only reason I saw that movie.
There was some B listing or something somewhere I think on this board that mentioned some other tracks besides What About Us that were played at the AI set.
The AI set was the ex spruce goose hanger in Long Beach next to the Queen Mary.
Bisquitodoom do any recordings of those other tracks that were played at the Flesh Fair set exist? Be cool to hear em on the next rare mp3 download.
Well I can testify that Ministry gained at least one new fan with “What About Us”. I saw that video on Much Music one day and really got into them after that.
So did a lot of others. Around that time, the hit on prongs.org/ministry increased big time and there were lots of emails asking for more information on Ministry. Also, a lot of people stumbled on this site by searching for “What about us lyrics” or something.
Soundtracks are probably good in that regard. You get a wide variety of people listening to different styles of music on one CD - it’s a chance to get your name out there to a new audience. I understand why bands like to be on soundtracks.
Ok list Ministry’s five worst mistakes from 1-5, 5 being the biggest blunder. Here’s mine:
Not collaborating more with Mr. Reznor
It’s a crying shame that you and the other skinny, 15 year old fags who like to paint their finger nails black and whine about how life is full of nothing but pain couldn’t see this come to fruition.
Go tongue your keyboard or pop in one of your lame Skinny Puppy CDs (anyone out of the entire catalogue). That will ease the pain, for a few minutes.
The Bad Blood Video
What kind of a budget was Warner Brothers going to give them for a promotional video anyways? About all they could do was have a slap fight in the studio and hire some ugly nurses.
Allowing “Ty Coon” to sing on any tracks…uggh she ruined every song she sang on with those disastrous vocals.
Probably had to do with the fact that Al was dating her at the time, and decided to let the talentless twit have some hand in the band. Angry female vocals just sound funny, not scary. I certainly hope this wasn’t a move on his part to try and add innovation to the music. If so, major misjudgement on his part.
Allowing personal problems to interfere with releasing a new album after Psalm 69…thereby creating a 4 year gap until Fith Pig and losing a lot of the buzz Psalm had earned them.
Umm, who cares? Are you upset that you can’t stand hand in hand with 12 year old boys and sing along to Scarecrow at concerts? Do you have a hand in Warner royalties?
Connelly was asked to vocals on Psalm 69. He declined.
My list:
Dismissing his early years
Heroin
The gap between Psalm 69 and Filth Pig
Always counting his chickens before they hatch (We’re touring as Revolting Cocks next year with Scott Ian! Buck Satan is our next project for sure! We’re touring with Skinny Puppy! etc.)
The NoW video. I know he didn’t have much of a budget, but geez…
A full-length Pailhead LP would be stellar. Personally, I don’t think it’s too late. Ian has said he’d do more Pailhead. Al just needs to pick up the phone.
Side note: interesting to see how all these “negative threads” (ie. worst this, worst that) generates the most replies… heh
[;)]Yeah, I see your point Afra. At least the prongs crowd isn’t a bunch of lemmings like the piss army though. If Al was selling ziplock bags full of his excrement those fuckers would buy it up in an instant! [laugh]
