Metallica Doing Record With Lou Reed?

As long as Hetfield stays off the mic.

“Heroin of the Day”

Just like Charlie Sheen: WINNING

OK, Death Magnetic isn’t a steaming pile of failure. It is easily the best stuff they put out in 20 years. However, the bar was set pretty low.

You know . . . that’s sad but truuuuuuueeee!!!

Totally agreed. A lot of elitists hate the Black Album but that one holds good memories for me. I was the only kid in kindergarten bumpin that shit and this was also around the time it came out. Black was the last great album from them. It pretty much slowly went downhill once Cliff died. Then they cut their hair and Lars said Metal is dead.

Heroin of the Day. Epic call.

Gunnar, gotta disagree with you. Death Magnetic really is nothing special. It sounds like a band finding their way in terms of songwriting. Good riffs are scattered all over the place, but that’s what they are; scattered. The transitions and changes are just way too abrupt, everything felt forced. Anyway, if I want good thrash, I’ll check out Destruktor- band from down this way.

Ehhh, I didn’t say it was “special”, just that it was good. I can listen to the whole album, but really there are like 5 songs in the middle that I really dig and I ignore the rest.

And I don’t consider it a “thrash” album. I just consider it a good metal album. It doesn’t compare to any of the first four on either level, though. But, hey, the 80’s are done and gone, and I’m just happy to get something that doesn’t suck.

Does Destruktor have any samples up online. I’ll give 'em a try.

With all that said, then I definitely get where yer coming from…

speaking of Destruktor… probably not thrash in the purest sense… veering a little more towards black metal but… still… I’ve been listening to heaps and digging it lately, even if I did have to punch the drummer in the face a couple of years ago.
