[reply][reply]Wasn’t he to have quit smoking also? So much for that. His voice is certainly sounding better, but does it matter if it’s completely shrouded underneath his cookie monster voice fx?
They say it’s easier to quit smack than tobacco.[/reply]
Dunno… Heroin’s gotta be worse than Tobacco.[/reply]
Well, I’ve got an ex that’s been off of heroin, methadone, coke, xanax and pot for years.
But she’s never been able to kick cigarettes.
It’s probably staying on the cigs that helps her keep off the other stuff. It may not have to be the case but that’s what may work for her.
I can’t say from any personal experience (and addiction would have entail the individual’s own willpower) but on a general level I could not believe tobacco is harder to kick than heroin. I’ve known people to give up cigs (having been heavy smokers) and the worst they got from it was a lengthy cold.
If it keeps him off hard drugs, I won’t complain. But, if I had multiple ulcers in my body…I’d be so paranoid I wouldn’t even drink tea or coffee anymore.
I hear that “cigarettes are harder to quit than heroin” line a lot, but I think there’s more in play than just the chemical dependancy or psychosomatic aspects to it.
I really think it’s more of a perception thing and an issue of prioritizing. I mean, count up the tally . . . .
Heroin addiction . . . you might just quickly turn into a shriveled up zombie, puke your guts out, steal from everyone you know, lose your job, your family, everything, and it’ll spiral out of control and cost you $200 a day and lead you to stealing DVD’s from Wal-Mart and/or selling BJ’s under a freeway overpass. Not to mention the AIDS from dirty needles, unpredictable street drugs, disease, death, etc. . . .
Smoking . . . you smell a little worse than usual, maybe have some sinus trouble (over time), maybe develop some cancer or something (over time). You get factory produced cigarettes and maybe your “heavy addiction” costs $10-$15 a day (assuming a few packs a day). Sure, it’s not “good” for you, but it doesn’t completely destroy the life your living and wreck the lives of everyone you know.
Everyone kind of knows the above and there’s a bit more “incentive” and urgency to actually quit and stay off Heroin. And if smoking cigarettes helps someone cope or fill that need for “something” . . . it’s certainly the lesser of two evils.
I’ve never seen someone call an “intervention” for a smoker and read letters about how it’s tearing everyone apart.
Nothing in that video remotely resembles ANYTHING I ever liked about Ministry. .
Bunch of tattooed “noo metallers”. Disgraceful.
Was this always his “vision” for Ministry? Tough guy buttrock?!?
This is not what drew me in to the band back in 1991. What drew me in was that were SO removed from the tedious hoardes of other “heavy music” acts. That perfect mix of post punk / industrial mechanical grind and Sabbath-ian gloom. Pure end of the world shit. They were Public Image mixed with Killing Joke mixed with Skinny Puppy mixed with something that had never been heard before.
Now it’s just fucking…I don’t even know where to begin. I wanna shut my eyes and pretend it’s not really happening.
Could anyone in 2004 after the release of Houses have predicted that Ministry would turned so rote and disappointing, on both creative and artistic fronts?
Nothing excites me in that clip and if a couple vocal samples and a looped synth bass is the bone I’m supposed to chew on, I reject it and maybe my Ministry “fan” status too.
I dunno i;ve accepted that the experimental day’s of ministry are gone and we’ll just get metal with a sample here and there but at least the metal is good

p.s. thanks JW
Yeah, I’m kind of the same way, but I have a harder time putting my bitterness aside. I actually liked TLS okay and I REALLY liked “Houses”. RGB is the only one that I really just don’t like at all. I’ve never bothered with any of the re-MiXXX crap or any of the stupid outsourced RevCo junk.
We’ll see if Ministry tickets are available and I’m in town for any of the shows. Maybe I’ll get bored and check it out. I just can’t be arsed to spend $100 or whatever for a friggin’ concert that already pisses me off before I’ve even attended it.

Right on. My main problem with the Bush albums was honestly more lyrical than musical. Maybe now that he’s got something else to sing about…
Yeah if he does’nt have drugs or bush to sing about i wonder…You know what’s funny in 95 we all secretly wished for a harder faster ministry now we have it and want the old sound back
I agree that I may leave Ministry for
dead after this record. I’ve been a fan
for almost 20 years and never
imagined there’d be a day where I’d
pass on buying a new record or seeing
a live show.
But there is no way I’m going to sit through
90 minutes of Relapse, Bush Trilogy and
an encore of NWO and Just One Fix.
Mamma Mia!!!
