If conan didn’t insist on his whole team, the writers camera men, etc. from the show in NYC move over to LA with him on NBC’s dime i’m almost positive he’d still be on the air. He DID get good ratings, but the cost he rang up would have taken some serious ratings and some time to get back into the black. Leno is just a crybaby brat. Obviously the guy has some sort of problem with letting go of the past (his obsession with old old cars and whatnot, actually that’s just my speculation)

That makes no sense. They spend all of that money just to throw it away? They should’ve at least given it more than a 3 month chance! Why spend all of that money if you’re not gonna keep something? Then they spent a whole helluva lot more when they bought out his contract!
Besides, I don’t think Ratings had all that much to do with it. Leno is the darling of the network when it comes Late night shows and when he threw his little temper tantrum about being bumped and insisted on a 10pm slot that got NO Ratings, they didn’t know how to tell this little spoiled child they had created “NO!”

Craig Ferguson sucks he’s not funny at all… worse than that Kimmel guy on abc. Conan was the only funny man imo, and naturaly funny I might add.[:)]
They all suck. Conan sucked slightly less than the other guys who all sucked, though, so if you’re gonna make a scale of suckiness and rank them in terms of suckosity, then I would definitely choose Conan to be on my TV than the rest of those suckwads.
But I’ll watch Dr. Phil or something before I resort to these turd faces with talking holes.
I got another theory too… when people go to bed around 10, like the middle age crowd, they tend to put on the news. so say they put on nbc, it’d be the nightly news then it would go into leno at 11:30, watch it a bit and they’d fall asleep with the tv on, so he got ratings. But with leno on at 10, people put on another channel to get the news, and then people being the lazy slugs we are, nobody would get up and change the channel, or roll over and look for the remote to put on nbc.
also leno being on at 10 got first crack at all the jokes on the news of the day.
Going to just avoid the “lano” conversation here… But Leno is a little bitch. Plain and simple. Says one thing, then does another. He can come off real “heartfelt”, but later can totally step on everything he said like it never happened. I remember watching clips of his “farewell” speech, and apologizes to letterman and so on, and during the war with conan, he takes shots again. Got boo’d for it too.
I like Letterman, but he’s not nearly as funny as he used to be. Leno was never funny. Conan was/is. He was doing shit that none of the others had the guts to do. I think the masturbating bear was brilliant.
Conan will probably be back in september. But it’s safe to say that i’ll never watch leno again, but that won’t be so hard since I never really watched to begin with. Too late for me too, even.
The best thing about Conan was he introduced the world to Triumph The Insult Comic Dog.
